Some ground rules were laid out before you set out on your adventure with your best friend. No phones and no talking about the boys.
You were dead set on making sure that, at least for one day, the two of you would just spend time together like you had originally thought you were going to. Freshly showered, you were now dressed in a pair of black skinny jeans and your favorite band tee. Slipping your shoes on, you grabbed your bag and joined Nova in the hallway.
It was already after noon by the time you left your hotel room, and the weather outside was cool but sunny. When you walked outside, the valet was standing next to the vehicle Nova had rented yesterday. "We have the rental car until we leave, so you know what that means?" Nova jingled the keys in front of you.
You snatched them from her, "It means I'm driving." She pouted and you laughed as you got into the driver's seat. After about half an hour, you pulled up to a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant that you had read served some of the best skewered meats. Heading inside, you were escorted to a table and your orders were promptly taken by an older woman with kind eyes.
So far, you were only a few hours into the day and the rules were sticking. Well, that was until-
"You don't think Jung-" Nova started to say but you quickly cut her off.
"Stop."
"What? I was just going to-" She tried to say again, but once more you halted her words, holding your hand up in front of her.
"Nope. I already told you, no discussing them tonight." You insisted with a stern glare. The waitress brought your food and you busied yourself with chewing. You hummed in appreciation as you took another bite of your beautifully stacked meat that tasted close to heaven. The reviews were spot on.
"Fine." She grumbled and tried to smile at you, though her expression still seemed troubled.
Leaning forward, you placed one of your skewered chicken sticks onto her plate.
"Preoccupy your mouth with a different kind of-" You started to say, but this time you were the one cut off.
"Y/N!" Nova raised her voice and her brows. "Geez." She covered her eyes with her hand with an embarrassed laugh.
You just grinned at her from across the table as you raised your glass of water to your lips.
Both of you finished eating and wandered out onto the street. After a quick pit stop at an ice-cream shop, the two of you walked back to the rental car and drove off to your next destination.
The two of you headed to Myeong-dong, a bustling shopping area packed with international fashion brands, luxury department stores, and cosmetics shops. You were surrounded by an array of casual eateries with a variety of different food styles, a few theaters, and a 19th-century Cathedral featuring a Gothic-style bell tower that you knew Nova would enjoy.
It was a tourist spot, sure. But technically the both of you were just that. It was much different from the uptown parts of South Korea that you had seen already. You didn't feel so out of place here.
You spent the next few hours shopping around and taking in the sights. You had convinced Nova to bring her photography camera, which she seemed thankful for once the sun started to go down in the crowded area. The night lit up with neon signs on every inch of the street. There wasn't a place that wasn't populated and filled with colors.
You were captivated by the beauty around you, but you made sure to keep close tabs on your easily distracted best friend as she snapped away like a shutter bug. You smiled at her as she took pictures of the people and buildings, happy that she was relaxing.
