Monday
"Braden! Braden!", someone calls. Denis comes running over towards me. I ignore him and start walking away. He grabs my hand and spins me around. "Braden! We need to talk!", he says, smiling. "About?", I ask," And make it quick."
"Why have you been avoiding me all of a sudden?", he asks," Ever since Saturday, you've been a little off." I shrug. "Is it because of Taylor?", he asks. I shrug again. "Tell me the truth Braden...", he says, sadly," I hate being lied to." I sigh and roll my eyes.
"Look! You're girlfriend is crazy!", I say. He blinks a few times before speaking. "Uhm, what?", he asks," How?" "I think she's too obsessed with you", I say," And she hates me, and she told me to stay way from you." He giggles a little.
"I don't think she really meant that", he says," She's too sweet to say or mean those kinds of things." "Seriously?! She looked like she was about to murder me!", I say, frowning. "No way", he says, shaking his head," Maybe...you're just a little jealous." I feel my face getting a little hot.
"I'm not...", I lied, crossing my arms," I just think you should talk to her, especially if she's going to get in the way of...us." He stays silent for a moment. "And if you want our friendship to last," I add," Then you better do something about her." "Fine.", he simply states," I will."
Briiing
"Bye", he says, side hugging me. We walk our seperate ways to our classes.
"Hey!", a girly voice sounds. I turn to see Taylor. "Great...", I mutter," What? What do you want?" "I heard and saw everything!", she says," Stop flirting with my man." "You're going to make me late for class", I say, rolling my eyes. "That makes two of us," she shrugs. "Okay whatever," I say," Besides, I wasn't even flirting with him." "Right....", she says. I shove her out of my way and walk to class, dismissing the conversation.
~*Time Skip*~
I walk over to the lunch table where everyone else was sitting.
"Ugh, I hate Mr. Cox so much!", Elijah complains, as I sit down," He gave me extra homework because I was being too loud in class." He crosses hims arms, and Alex giggles a little. "What's so funny?", Elijah asks. "It's just...his name is funny to me", Alex replies, giggling some more. "Wow, so immature", Sub says. "Your mom", Alex replies. Sub rolls his eyes and stabs his fork into his salisbury steak, snapping it in half.
"Wow, these are some cheap forks", he says, sighing. "More like hard ass food", Alex says, stabbing his fork into the hard steak. "Hey, guys!", a voice says. Denis sits next to me.
"It's been awhile since we all hung out together!", he says," Maybe we could...meet up at the park today?" "Can't," Alex simply says. "Aw, I would love to but...", Elijah starts," I have track today...and lots of homework." "You run track?!", Alex asks," But how?!" "How do you even run with those stick legs anyways?", I ask jokingly. Elijah blushes a little. "You know, I may not be nowhere near as thick as you guys are but I can run, even with being so thin", he says, pouting and crossing his arms," Just be lucky that you weren't cursed with a high metabolism. Being underweight SUCKS!" "Fair point", Alex shrugs. "Well, what about you Alex? What's your excuse?", Denis asks. Alex blushes a little.
"Uhm...I-I have a mall date with Garrett...", he says, playing with his fingers. "Awww", Sub says," Are you guys dating?" "N-not yet...", Alex replies. "Aw, softie!", I say. "I'm not soft!", he pouts, crossing his arms. "Sub?", Denis asks. "Oh uhm, well I have a presentation to finish!", Sub replies," I'm makong an animation and those take soo long." Denis sighs and looks me in the eyes.
"What about you?", he asks. "Oh uhm...", I start," I uh...I'm free...I guess..." He smiles a little. "Well then it's just be us two!", he says. "Yep...just like the old times...", I say. I suddenly feel a pain in my heart, realizing that things weren't going to be necessarily the same.
No more holding hands walking down the street together, no more flirty compliments, no more kisses on the cheek or the lips, no more being romantic with each other. All of that was gone.
"Braden?", Denis asks," are you alright?" I snap back into reality, realizing that tears were rolling down my cheeks. I wipe them away and nod. "Y-yeah, I'm okay", I lie", My eyes just...burn." He gives me a concerned look but doesn't ask any questions, knowing that I do not want to talk about it right now.
"Wait, what about Taylor?", Sub asks," I thought you had a date with her today?" Denis laughs nervously. "Uhm...well, she has cheer practice today and she cancelled our 'date'...", he says. "Oh..."
Briiiing
"Well, see you later, Braden!," Denis says. We all walk off to our classes.
