"Braden! Are you excited for your first day?!", Elijah asks, while we get off the bus and walk into the school. I nod. "Trust me! You'll love this school! Everyone is nice here...well, maybe not everyone", Denis says. "O-oh, okay...", I say.
We walk over to their lockers. "Do you know where your locker is?", Elijah asks me. "Obviously not, Elijah! He's new! He doesn't know where things are", Denis says. That was true. I didn't know where anything was.
"What locker number do you have?", Denis asks sweetly. "120", I say shyly. I can feel myself blush. I didn't know why. Maybe it's because I'm feeling very nervous and bashful.
"Oh! Lucky you! I know where that locker is! It's near our other friend, Alex's, locker! I'll show you", Elijah says. "O-okay", I say. "Hey! Meet us at the auditorium, since there is going to be an assembly there this morning", Denis says. "Okay!", Elijah replies. "Bye, Braden", Denis says, smiling ever so sweetly. I smile and wave, and he walks off. "Okay, let's go!", Elijah says. He walks me to my locker.
"Well here it is!", he says. "Ello, Elijah!", someone calls. I turn around and see a white and brown haired boy with hazel eyes. He was a bit taller than me.
"Oh! Hey, Alex.", Elijah greets. "Who is this?", Alex says. "Oh! This is Braden! He's new, and I met him at my bus stop!", Elijah says. "Oh, hi! I'm Alex", Alex says, smiling. I wave. "He's a litte shy", Elijah says. Alex nods. "Well, we better hurry because the assembly starts soon!", he says. "Oh shoot yeah! We better get going", Elijah says.
I shove my stuff in my locker and follow them into the auditorium. "Nice flower crown, Braden!", Alex says, as we walk into the auditorium. "T-thanks", I say, blushing. "Guys! Over here!", Denis yells, waving at us to come to a table, with one other person sitting there.
We make our way over there. "Uhm, who is this?", a brown haired boy with glasses asks Denis. "Oh, Sub! Meet Braden! He's new", Denis says, looking at me and smiling. I blush and wave. "Hi", I say softly. Sub smiles and waves back.
"Anyways, Braden! We have assembly's every month, and they're awesome! That's why everyone is so excited to go to one!", Denis says. "Yeah! You came in on the right day!", Alex says, giggling.
The lights dim down and everyone starts shushing each other. "Ooo, it's starting", Elijah says.
Who I'm guessing is the principal, walks out onto the stage. "Goodmorning, ladies and gentleman", she says," Today, we are going to create posters, protsesting against anything you'd like". Everyone starts going crazy, and the principal starts shushing them.
"You will be working with the people at your table, and you have 1 hour to create it! Markers, crayons, pencils, and other things will be passed around to each table.", she says." You may begin".
The auditorium starts to get loud. "So, what should we protest against?", Denis asks. "About us not being allowed to drink energy drinks", Elijah says. Everyone looks at each other and exchanges looks.
"Uhhh, no", Denis says," Something else, non food related". "We can protest about kicking the the teachers out and no more school for the rest of our high school lives!", Sub says, smiling evilly. "Sub, that's not how it works...", Alex says. "Uhm, no. Something else, something nicer", Denis says. We all think long and hard, until I had this great idea. Or at least, I thought it was great.
"I think we should protest for LGBT+ rights", I say quietly. "Ooo, that's a nice idea!", Denis says, smiling sweetly. "Oh my god! Yas!", Alex says. "Eh, it is a good idea, I guess", Elijah says. Sub nods in agreement.
I blush at the fact that everyone liked my idea. "Well, can we all share what our sexuality is before we start?", Denis says," I think it would be a good idea since we're already close friends". "Yeah sure, why not?", Sub says.
"Okay, I'll start first", Denis says. "Mkay", Elijah says. "So, I'm Bisexual", Denis says. "I mean, everyone already knows, except Braden, but I'm gay", Alex says. "I'm Demisexual", Elijah says. "What is that?", Sub asks. Elijah lets out a long sigh.
"Demisexual is a person who doesn't feel sexual attraction unless they form a strong connection with someone", he explains. "So are you attracted to girls or boys...or both?", Sub asks. "I'm more attracted to girls but guys are pretty nice too", Elijah says," So, I guess I'm a Bi and Demi". Sub nods. "Oh! Okay", he says," Well, I'm Pansexual". "Isn't that the same as Bisexual?", Alex asks. "No! There is a difference!" Denis says, looking a bit offended. "Okay, Jeez. I was just asking", Alex says. Denis rolls his eyes and turns to me.
"Braden? What is yours?", he asks, smiling. I stay silent for a moment. "I-I-I'm...g-gay", I say shyly, stuttering, and blushing a bit. I can see Denis blushing too, but a lot more than me, and he was smiling a bit. "O-oh! That's great", he says. Alex gasps.
"What's wrong?", Sub asks. "Nothing is wrong! We're all in the LGBT+ community", he says. "Oh, yeaaah! That is very true!", Denis says. "I'm glad! I feel accepted now", Elijah says. "Well, we should get started on this poster! It's going to be amazing!", Denis says. We all nod in agreement and start working on the poster.
1 hour later
"Oh yes! We finished right on time", Denis says. "The poster looks so cute", I say. "I agree! So much gayness and rainbows", Alex says, smiling proudly. "Ugh! I can't wait to present this", Sub says.
I wasn't. I was scared that everyone was going to judge me. I mean, people are already looking at me weirdly cause I'm wearing a flower crown, and I don't want anyone making fun of me because I'm gay. But if these guys are happy, then I'm happy.
"Okay, guys! We are going to present our posters and then hang them around the school", the principal says. Everyone starts cheering.
I guess this was the time be confident, and to come out to everyone already.
