My morning started as usual : wake up , eat breakfast , hit the gym , and then shower. A pretty typical beginning to a young adults life in Los Angeles. I moved down here a couple years ago because i wanted to take my singing career seriously , and moving to LA seemed like a start. It was actually my best friend Ashton who convinced me that it was a good idea. Although i haven't really made any progress ; sure my YouTube videos have a few hundred thousand views , and thanks to ashton i have a bigger social media following , but other than that I'm no where near my goal of selling out arenas and walking down the red carpet at the Grammys.
You'd think having a famous rockstar as a best friend would help boost my rise to fame but i could never ask him for help , i wanted to work my ass off and make it myself. Speaking of Ashton , he should've been here 30 minutes ago.
To Ashton 🤩 : bitch i swear if you forgot about me I'm gonna shove a drumstick up your ass
And because it's Ashton , i quickly get a response. He always says he responds quick because he doesn't see the point in making someone wait for a response , " it's a text , not a letter Dakota " he once told me.
From Ashton 🤩 : I'm almost there , you're impatient today.....
10 minutes later , my favorite Australian drummer waltzes through the door as if he lived in my house.
" hello miss Dakota , i see someone was eager to see me today " he smirks
" oh hush Irwin. It's just been a while , you're always in the studio working on the album. I feel like i never see my best friend anymore " i say , shoving his shoulder.
" come on Kota , you know it hasn't been that long. The album is almost over-"
" oh so now you're leaving me for tour " i interrupted him , placing my hand over my heart with a fake hurt expression on my face.
He raises his eyebrows at me and i see the corners of his mouth turn up in a small smile. " just come on tour with me then? Ever thought about that " he says , walking into my kitchen to grab a bottle of water.
I sigh. He always wants me to join him on tour. It's not like i wasn't close with the other boys , because i was. But I was always closest with Ashton. It's been like that since the beginning. I never knew why , we just had this unspoken bond.
" Ashton you know i can't. There's already a shit ton of people in the crew , I'd just be in the way of everything " i say to him , muttering the last part.
He looks at me with an " are you serious " look on his face. " Dakota Trinity Lewis that is the worst excuse i think you've come up with to date "
I sigh , not wanting to talk about this anymore. " wanna help me with a new song? I have most of it done , i just need help with the chorus. " i say with a smile on my face. Song writing with Ashton was my favorite. I only had 1 original song out already , but i had a book full of ideas.
He shakes his head at my attempt of ending our previous conversation, but nods his head. " show me what you got , Lewis "
I grab my journal and show him what i have so far for the chorus : You make me feel like a teenager in love You make me feel like I'll be forever young
" i told you i needed help " i sigh , embarrassed that my chorus was currently 2 lousy lines. I rest my head in my hands as he reads the verses , getting a feel of the song.
" okay , how about ' and i don't want nobody else ' " he hums , adding it in with the rest of the chorus to the melody of the song. It was a simple line , but that's the essence of the song. Simply in love.

Ashton watched me with a big smile on my face. " damn. With a voice like that it's mind boggling how you're not signed to a label yet " he says , shaking his head.
I shrug my shoulders. Sure , i wish i had a record label and was selling albums and singing in front of thousand of people who love my music as much as i do. But it's not my time yet.
" i have to finish the music , do you think i could borrow the studio tomorrow? " i ask him.
He nods his head " yea , I'll go with you too. I wanna help you as much as i can " he says , patting the top of my head.
