I've been spending more time with Ashton the past few weeks. They finished the album and it was amazing , I'm such a proud best friend. Me and the girls were currently at lunch , catching each other up on what's been happening.
" so Dakota , hows ashton? " Maddie asks me with a smirk on her face. I look at her confused.
" he's fine , why? " i ask , tilting my head a little bit.
" we're just wondering when you guys are gonna start dating " Claire says with a laugh. My eyes widen. And i sigh.
" probably never , where would you even get an idea like that? " i ask , taking a sip from my water.
" Dakota Lewis , we're not stupid. The way you two look at each other isn't how friends look at each other. That's the same look michael and crystal give each other. You guys love each other " Claire tells me , looking serious all of sudden.
" and all this time i thought i was being secretive about my crush " i sigh , leaning back in my chair. Athena looks at me and puts her hand on mine.
" trust me babe ,We all know. Even Calum is suspicious. It's nothing to be embarrassed about Kota , i promise " Athena tells me with a small smile on her face.
I nod my head. While it isn't anything to be embarrassed by , I'd be mortified if Ashton ever found out. I know he'd never feel the same way about me. I groan , " when did my life become such a cliche " i ask , throwing my head back.
" hey , it's normal to catch feelings for someone if you spend so much time with them. Don't beat yourself up over it. Besides like you said , it's just a crush. You'll get over it eventually, even though i really wish you'd act on it because you two are a match made in heaven " Maddie tells me , i shoot her a look. Me and Ashton's friendship would be ruined if i acted on anything.
" you're right , it'll go away eventually. They leave in like a month and then the feeling will fade. " i say , mostly to myself. " speaking of tour , did Calum tell you what they were being so quiet about the other night? " i ask Athena.
" i tried asking , he just changed the subject. I'm sure it's nothing bad " she shrugs , taking a bite of her food.
I pull out my phone and see a text from ashton.
From Ashton 🤩 : come to my house in an hour , i have some news for you
I show the girls the text and they're all as confused as me. " i wonder what it is " i say , putting my phone away.
" he's gonna confess his love for you " Claire hums in a cheery voice. I roll my eyes , he definitely isn't.
" ha ha , very funny. He probably got a dog or something like that " I shrug.
" if he got a dog he'd send you a picture of it. He wouldn't make you drive all the way over there for a dog " Maddie tells me with her eyebrows raised.
I roll my eyes , she's right but i don't wanna talk about this anymore. " i have a new song idea. But it might be too much " i tell them.
" what do you mean by too much? " Athena asks me.
" my other 2 songs are sweet love songs and this one , is the opposite " i answer.
" Dakota that's not too much , have you heard the boys' music? It bounces all over the place " Claire says.
" what's it called? " Maddie asks , tilting her head
" Dead " i say , waiting for a response
" well now i need to hear it " Athena tells me with a smile on her face. Athena had always told me i needed to expand on my music. I figured a breakup song would work.
" i only have a couple lines of the chorus , but i love the idea of it " i say , a smile now on my face. " I'll show you guys when it's finished , but for now i gotta go see Ashton " i say , grabbing my stuff.
" have fun with the little drummer boy " Maddie smirks at me.
