{Potions Class}

Owls flew over our heads as we were seated in the great hall for breakfast. It was just another day at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and another day for me without any post. I hadn't expected anything, anyway. My parents were way to busy working, as long as I was here, at Hogwarts, they didn't need to worry about me. I ate my slice of toast as I watched everyone around me open their letters from their parents, family and friends. My friend, Hermione, had received a letter from her parents, checking up on her to make sure she was okay and to update her on everything that she had missed whilst she was here. I couldn't but feel envious of her. She was muggle-born and if I'd learnt anything since my time here and from being born a pure-blood, it's that those who have muggles for parents are always missed and loved. I sighed, looking at my boring breakfast. "(Y/n)." Hermione said, whispering as she nudged me. "He's staring at you again." I looked up and over at the Slytherin table and there he was Draco Malfoy. His bleached blonde hair was slicked back and sure enough, he was staring at me. When he saw my looking back at him, he smiled and went back to eating his breakfast. "He likes you." Hermione sang as she placed her letter down on the table. "No, he doesn't. It's probably a dare from his friends or something." I replied as she looked at me in disbelief. "I doubt it. He's never looked at anyone that way before. It's Malfoy, he's usually miserable." I laughed slightly at her remark.

"He's a Slytherin and I'm a Gryffindor." I stated. "Malfoy doesn't look at anyone like that unless they are a Slytherin." We remained in silence for a few minutes before Hermione suggested that we head up to our first class of the day; Potions with Snape. As we walked down the corridor and up the stairs, Hermione looked at me. "Make sure you pay attention this time." She said, clutching hold of her books. "I will, especially after what happened last time." The last lesson you had with Snape, you weren't paying attention to what he had to say because it was so boring and as a punishment, he turned your hair pink. You arrived outside of the lesson as Snape opened the door to the potion's classroom. "Ah. Miss (L/n). Are we going to pay attention this week?" He sneered.

"Yes sir." I replied, quietly as I walked past him and into the classroom. When the whole class had arrived, we were told to stand at the back of the class. "Today, you will be paired up and making the potion on page 60." Harry and Ron moved and stood next to each other. "Ah. Not so fast boys. I'll be choosing the pairs today." A small, smug smile formed on his face; it only lasted for a few seconds before it disappeared, and he began to choose the pairs. By the end there was me, Draco, Harry and a girl from Ravenclaw, called Jessica, left. "(Y/n), you can go with..."

'Please be Harry or Jessica. Please be Harry or Jess-'

"Draco." He said as I looked over at Draco, who winked at me before we walked off to our desk. "Page 60!" Snape reiterated to the class whilst hitting Ron over the head with a book as he had accidently turned to the wrong page. I opened my copy of the book and began reading the instructions. "Hey." Draco said, lining out everything we needed on the desk.

"Hey." I replied, not quite sure what I was supposed to say. He opened his mouth to speak as Snape spoke again; "I should mention that the people you are paired with will be your partners for the foreseeable future, so please, play nicely." Across the room, Hermione sighed and looked annoyed as her partner was Ron; Ron saw this and looked offended. I looked back at Draco and gave a small smile. "Looks like we're potion partners." He said.

"So, it does." I replied, before looking at the instructions again, getting to work making the potion. Over the next hour, I had to spend a lot of time with Draco and he wasn't as bad as everyone claimed he was. He was kind and helpful; in all honesty, I believed I would have to spend the entire lesson, making this potion by myself as he just laid-back relaxing, but this wasn't the case. He got involved and really took the time to get to know me and it seemed to be genuine. He asked me about me family; my parents, my favourite subjects and just about me in general. It had been one of the very few times that I had felt wanted and cared for by someone, I hadn't felt that way in a long time, which is why it shocked me when it was Draco that had made me feel this way. Towards the end of the lesson he asked me; "How is your studying going for the exams?" By now, we were completely comfortable with one another. "It's going okay, I think. What about you?"

"It's not going great to be honest." He sighed. "I just don't know where to start and I have no idea how to revise. I'd ask my friends but they're all useless and they aren't that bothered with studying for exams but as I've got older, I've realised how important it is and now I've left to too late to know where to begin."

"I could always help you study." I said, without thinking.

"Really?" His eyes and face lit up. "You'd help me?"
"Sure. Why not?" I replied. "We have the same lessons, so we have to same exams. I don't mind helping you study." I smiled and he smiled back. In that moment, it felt like everyone else in the class had just disappeared at it was only him and me. That was until Snape stood behind us and said, "Well, well, well. I ever expected to see Malfoy actually working but apparently, he is. You must be a positive influence on him (Y/n). Looks like I won't have to turn your hair bright pink this week." He marched off, looking a little upset that he didn't have to put me through hell again. Everyone began packing up and heading out of the class, either towards their next lesson or a free. "I'll wait outside for you (Y/n)." Hermione said, leaving me and Draco.

"So, I'll see you in the library tomorrow morning?" I asked him, putting my bag over my shoulder.

"It's a date." He said, as we left the room together. "See you tomorrow (Y/n)." He smiled, leaving me and Hermione. I looked at her and she winked at me. "Shut up!" I said, laughing. However, I couldn't deny that I was excited for tomorrow morning when I'd see him again, just me and him. I couldn't wait for my next potions lesson.
