There are two types of fire in a relationship, the physical and the psychological fire. The physical fire between a couple drives them and strengthen their intimacy. The psychological fire between a couple creates a bonding emotionally. Intimacy is the vital key in a healthy and longer relationship. But a physical fire alone cannot connect two souls emotionally, that's where the psychological fire plays its role. An emotional bond without a physical drive is also futile. It's like an attractive tree without flowers or fruits, they may seem beautiful and healthy but the charm and use will be missing. So the physical and psychological fire goes hand in hand with each other.

Too much of physical and psychological fire burns down the entire relationship. There needs to be ice in both to cool down when the temperature goes high. So an ideal relationship needs fire and ice both physically and psychologically. Sam and Tara both had a fire and ice between them, both physical and psychological as well but they need to play wise with them to thrive together in the ocean of love.

Ninety days of strange friendship from a dating website advanced to an unusually comfortable and healthy relationship so quick like a wildfire. Their love life seemed like a freshly repainted home, colorful and exciting. They felt that they are made for each other and was mad on each other.

"It's still like two days since you became my official boyfriend but almost two months had passed. I feel our love is so fresh and sweet like Fuji apple", said Tara with a smile, lying aside in the bed with Sam, twiddling her fingers on his naked chest with her head resting on his shoulder. Tara's smooth shoulders brushed him and they shined like a varnished teak wood furniture.

"Ha! Someone always chides me for being cheesy but now see who tries to speak poetic", Sam baited pulling her close to him. Tara unclasped herself from his hold and quickly turned her face away.

"Well. Well. Someone was like an ice yet transformed into a fire within a second. You look red now like Fuji apple but I'm not sure if this Fuji apple is sweet. May I find it?", Sam coaxed holding her cheeks towards him.

"Stop playing Sam", Tara chided him. She looked perturbed and her mind was wobbling over something serious. Sam failed to notice it because he was so involved in studying her beauty lines. Her heart was set to fire due to an unsettling fear but his eyes were set on unsettling fire due to her fierce beauty. An unusual silence filled the room.

"This is bothering me", Tara broke the ice and spoke an open ended encrypted statement which made Sam to become clueless. He froze like ice for a moment trying to decode her statement but his attempt went in vain.

Sam deviated his mind from her waxed velvety legs and sluggishly asked her,

"What's bothering you baby?"

"This intimacy. This casual and comfortable intimacy between us bothers me."

"I thought it strengthens our relationship and bonding. Why should our comfortableness bother you?"

"Too much intimacy leads to...", Tara was searching for words but couldn't complete what she was about to say.

"Leads to...", he pressed her to complete.

"Nothing. Leave it", she didn't budge.

"Psst..You only started it and now you aren't interested in speaking out", Sam got slightly irritated.

"Don't get angry Sam. I feel that too much of intimacy leads to emotional disconnection", Tara blurted out.

"Do you think we have physical relationship alone and fail to love each other. I mean are we not emotionally connected?"

"I didn't mean that we don't love each other. But.."

"But what?", Sam shouted on top of his voice. Sam was already irritated because his pleasant love hormones were interrupted by her and his fire was totally put off by Tara's cold words. Now he got heated up with an alternate fire called anger.

"Why do you yell at me? Should I not discuss my fears with you? Do you think it's a big mistake to express myself?", Tara argued back.

Thinking about fears and uncertainties is not a blunder mistake. Opening up in a relationship isn't that bad but time and tide plays a huge part. Interrupting a guy who is physically driven towards her girl can be disastrous because it's not just the physical fire which drives him crazy but it's more related to emotional drive and fire associated with it makes a guy insane when being interrupted. Tara never understood this theory and chose the wrong time to argue. She had put on an iceberg on the sizzling blaze.

"No baby. I didn't say its wrong to discuss but it's not the right time to discuss", Sam attempted to cool it off and cuddled her.

"That's the reason why I fear. This intimacy is too frequent and comfortable so that I feel we are not having much time to connect emotionally. Too much comfort creates discomfort. We don't share our feelings with each other, we don't talk about our ups and downs, about us, our future", Tara spoke fast without taking a breath.

"But you are rushing up baby. Emotional bonding strengthens over time. Give time sometime to get our best times."

Sam kissed her lips to stop her from further chitchats. But Tara didn't allow the moment to last long since she got disappointed. She excused herself and went to restroom. Sam felt cold towards her but gave her some space to compose herself. She came back from restroom and got dressed real quick. She adjusted her bright red lipstick.

The shiny gloss of her red lipstick made him hot in spite of his cold arguments. All he needed is a pinch of excess physical fire in their love life. Even though she had a hot argument she was cold inside because she needed a tiny portion of excess psychological fire in their love.

"I'm leaving Sam. It's getting late for me."

"Alright baby. See ya tomorrow."

After that Sam and Tara kissed passionately and smiled at each other. Tara then left Sam's home. There was not a furious fight or a cold war between them. No matter what, they do loved each other, yet were playing with fire and ice.
