Dear Valentine
On a road into a forest dark
this very nature I now despise
became the bane of a forlorn heart
and drove all these self loathing lies
Yet somewhere in the briars old
that cut with anger at any joy
in a new light piercing, did I behold
A better view of a lonely boy
Whispers I send to set at ease
the cords I wrapped around my soul
Slowly do I now release
my prisoner self, alive and whole
Forgiveness here, I gift to you
Pardon and love, dear heart find
Time to let this sun shine through
Accept this truth, dear valentine
