The Kingdom of Wolves

King Maddox POV:

I jolt awake, breathing heavily and sweat pouring from my body.

Lavender eyes dance around my mind and the moon crested mark on the back of my neck burns.

My queen has been born and was awaiting me. I felt it and I have Been alive way too long to not know this feeling. I quickly get out of bed and get dressed. "My king where are you going?" Emily purrs and I ignore her. the only thing I need and crave is the one who was to be in my hands, and my hands only.

"My king?" My hand automatically swings back throwing the whore against the wall. "Don't not touch me!" I growl at her and leave the room, slamming the door shut.

"DAMON!" I walk down the stairs to my beta awaiting me. "What do you possibly need at this time of the night max?" He yawns, groggy, as he walks towards me, meeting me in the middle of the throne room.

"How long will it take to travel to the northern kingdom?" He looks at me with pure confusion. "At least two days, maybe longer because of the big snow storm that has landed. King Henry wrote us, asking for our protection." A growl of annoyance pasts my lips. If I weren't so foolish, I would've been there for my queens birth.

"What if we go on foot." I mind link my warriors to get to the gates immediately. "Max why do you want to get to the north so bad?" I nod for the guards to open the gates.

"She who bares the mark has be born." Damon's eyes go wide and I shift. As being my beta he could smell the scent radiating off of me.

I look behind be to see that my warriors had shifted as well and we were ready for war if it comes to it. "Are you positive my king." I look at Damon and take off into the woods, giving him his answer.

I could sense my queen awaiting for my arrival. The need to have her in my arms and In my protection was coursing through my veins.

Beautiful lavender eyes.

I could not yet see her face but those lavender eyes. I knew the moon goddess would bless me with such a beautiful creature.

"My king do you smell that!" Damon mind links me and it hits me. Even millions of miles away, the smell of my queen was present as did another lingering in the wind.

Every wolf would be able to smell such a powerful scent. No one could touch her nor harm her. Even the dirty rouges wouldn't dare touch her. She was the queen of wolves, not just the kingdom.

When the cooler air hits my fur, I pick up the pace till I feel the snow beneath my feet. "My King we will need rest!" I snarl and a deep growl comes from my lips. "We will do no such thing, your queen is awaiting us!"

We approach the northern kingdom at early dusk. The storm no longer here and the kingdom in eye view. I stop and sit. The howl that my queen had been awaiting leaves my throat and my warriors follow.

I shift, as do my men and walk to the kingdom where the northern king stands at the door. "My King we are please to see that you got my letter, please come in!" He ushers us in the main hall and shouts orders to his maids and guards to get clothes for us.

"S-shall we go to my study and talk in private." The king stutters. My eyes narrow down at him but nod. "Max this place reeks of birth." I feel my face twitch and notice women walking around with children in their arms.

"Here my lord." A tiny human bows in front of me holding out a pair of trousers. I take them and put them on as we follow the human king. He opens a door to where a desk lays in the middle and a fire place already lit.

"It seems you already knew we were coming King Henry." I say, examining the portrait of the king and his pregnant queen. "I heard the howls my lord, I was happy to know that we seen my letter. Although I wished you would've arrived sooner." I smirk and turn to seem him pouring himself a cup of wine.

"Tell me, why does your palace reek of birth and mostly every woman here was holding a child." He freezes in his spot and you can smell how nervous he is. "My king I believe that witches had caused the terrible storm and such chaos. Death was upon us." He sits down in his seat.

"I demand to inspect every female born last night." I say and grab myself the bottle of wine.

"But my king there were no females born." My ears perk and I look at Damon. "Your telling me that only males were born." I bash my hand on his desk, causing his wine to drop from his hands.

"Your wife. I'm assuming she'd also delivered?" He nods his head. "Y-Yes m-my King. We also had a boy but he didn't make it. T-the doctor said it was a s-still birth." I close my eyes and see the lavender eyes starring at me.

"Where is this doctor of yours. I wish to speak to her immediately." I growl and he gets up rushing towards the door.

He quietly speaks to the guard telling him to find the doctor or he'll have his head. What a pathetic threat coming from a pathetic king. "My king why don't you and your men dine and rest until then. Surely you were all tired and hungry from such a journey." Damon gives me a look telling me to take his offer and I do.

Damon walks out first and before I leave, I grab the king by his collar and a low growl erupts from lips. "If I find that you had lied to me. I will do more than just have your head." I shove him back make him stumble and walk out the door.

—————————

"My king." I set down my glass and look at the sweating king. The room immediately becomes silent. "The doctor was found dead in her chambers." I look at Damon telling him to go to the scene. I refused to be fooled by some human.

"King Henry!" I shout before he leaves. "Y-Yes m-my k-king." I take a sip of from my glass. "Where is my dear brother. I haven't seen him in so long." The kings eyes go wide and he fumbles with his fingers. "W-well u-um your brother- sir Maverick has to assist a family in the woods. T-they we're trapped in the storm and he was the only one able to help them."

I smile and Damon returns. "It seems that the doctor had been decapitated." The sound of my chair scratching against the floor echos through the dining room. "She was a witch my king!" The king screams, looking like a complete mad man.

"Looks like my brother is more loyal to the north than to his own king!" I laugh and raise my glass. "To my dear brother Maverick! May the goddess be with him!" All my men shout and we all raise our glasses.

"King Henry please tell my dear brother when he returns that I will see him soon." The king nods, the color draining from his face and rushes off. I walk towards the door and walk outside into the white snow.

I close my eyes and take in a deep breath, smelling for my queen and dear brother. "Do you smell them?" I open my eyes and look out to the woods. "They knew I would come for her." I finish my wine and then throw it.

"Who knew your brother would betray the kingdom." I laugh and and sit down. "The child is his queen. He is doing his job by protecting her, even if it's from me." I touch the back of my neck as i feel my wolf filled with rage and sadness all at the same time.

"We will leave tonight." I say standing back up. Damon's eyebrows furry together. "But max the queen, we-" I cut him off. "When the time comes for her to need me, we will be here ready I walk back in and see the maids cleaning off the table. "But max you can't be able to wait that long!" I turn around to Damon and take hold of his neck squeezing.

"Do you question my orders beta?" I growl and Damon quickly submits. I let go and walk to empty chambers. "I would advise for you to get some rest my king as it will be a long 18 years my king." And then he slams his door.

When the time is right the one who bares the mark of the moon and lavender eyes will become the beasts for eternity.

And I was willing to wait for my queen, as the northern kingdom plays house and my brother betrays all for those lavender eyes.
