The Shadow (A FairyTail Mystery )

Chapter 12

 As Natsu looked over my body, I felt his grip loosen.

"I-It's him." said, Natsu, and he fell to his knees. His knees started to bleed from the sharp stairs under him.

The dark shadow hummed in annoyance, and said, "It seems you know my true identity. I as well have prior knowledge of you, Natsu Dragneel."

I started shaking.

Natsu let me slip away, putting is hands down by his sides, so I grabbed tight onto his keck, keeping myself from falling down the stairs.

As I looked up at Natsu, his face as blank. His eyes were clouded. His smile was gone.

"So this is the all and powerful Dragon Slayer I've been hearing about?" said the shadow, and started to laugh.

"Natsu! Go and fight him!" I yelled into his ear, trying to keep hold of his neck.

He looked up at the dark shadow, then slowly shook his head no.

I started to shake, and my hands started to sweat.

I slowly felt myself falling.

As my hands fell off of Natsu's neck, he snapped back into reality and caught me by the waist.

He set me down in the stairs and leaned me against the wall.

As he sat me down, he placed a light kiss on my forehead and stood up, facing the dark shadow.

"Lucy. Cover your ears. I can't reveal this to anyone." said Natsu.

I didn't.

"Lucy! Follow my orders! It's for your own good!" he yelled. I quickly snapped my hands up to my ears, muffling any sound that Natsu made, and I closed my eyes.

After a minute, I heard my name being called, so I opened my eyes and took my hands off of my ears slowly.

I heard Natsu say my name again.

"Please. I just want to protect Lucy. I don't need anyone else hurt because of me. Take your anger out on me, not the town or the Princess." I heard him say.

Was I really hearing what I just heard.

Was Natsu pleading to this man?
"I said, I have to eliminate anyone that knows of my secret." said the dark shadow. The voice sounded familiar, but I couldn't quite tell who it was.

"Then, I have no choice to take you down, Rouge."

"Rouge?!" I yelled.

Natsu quickly turned around, running up the stairs to me. He covered my ears.

"I told you Lucy! I told you!" I heard him cry, but it was muffled. "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!" he yelled. Natsu took his hands off my ears and I opened my eyes.

He had covered is eyes with his hands, but the tears fell through his fingers.

I felt warm tears running down my cheeks.

I tried to touch Natsu's shoulder, but I couldn't reach.

I hit my fist onto my legs, not feeling anything.

I hit myself over and over again.

I made Natsu sad. It was my fault that he's now crying.

I sat there crying with Natsu for what seemed like hours, but in reality, it had only been two minutes.

Rouge walked over to Natsu, changed back to his normal state, and picked him up by the back of his shirt.

Natsu didn't do anything. He just hung there, crying.

"Natsu! I'm sorry for what I've done, but please! Fight back! You can win this!" I yelled at Natsu, and all he did was look up at me.

"It's my fault that this is happening. Now I need to take the blame." he said quietly.

Rouge grinned.

"Does anyone ever tell you to shut up?" he said annoyingly, and threw Natsu down the stairs with ease as he looked at me.

I grinded my teeth as I saw Natsu laying at the bottom of the stairs.

I looked down at my hands, and tears had fell onto them.

"What's the matter Lucy? Are you scared? Do you want to run home and cry to your father?" said Rouge.

I shut my eyes tight, and I grabbed the first key that I could find on my belt.

Rouge laughed, and pushed my head against the wall.

"Just to you know, this is your fault." he said.

"I know. That's why I'm doing this." I said. Rouge stopped smiling as I yelled, "Open the gate of the Lion!"

He tried to grab the key from my hand, but I pushed him with all my force. He didn't expect it, so he went down a few stairs and started to laugh.

I quickly looked up at Loki.

He was already bending down to pick me up.

"Call another Zodiac. You can still give orders to me while protecting yourself." he said, and I nodded.

I felt a drop of blood fall down the side of my head where Rouge pushed me into the wall, but I quickly looked for Aries. She could put me into one of her clouds or could choose to hold me.

"Open the gate of the Ram!" I yelled as I stuck out my key. She popped up and I gave her a weak smile. He already knew what to do and took me into her hands.

Natsu started to stand up, so I yelled down to him.

"Natsu! Get your butt up here and fight Rouge!"

He slow stood up and looked at me.

"Hey Rouge." said Natsu as he slowly stood up. "Did you really think I was going to be taken down that easily?"

Rouge turned around to look down wat him, but his fist was already in his face.

Rouge got out a small scream , but it wasn't long because Natsu had punched Rouge down onto the stairs.

Leo walked down some stairs to look over Rouge, as well as Natsu.

"W-what do you think your doing?!" yelled Rouge.

They both smiled on at him.

"Were just giving out some justice." said Loki, and he stepped onto his chest.

But Rouge laughed.

Natsu stopped smiling, and turned his head like he was a confused dog.

"Do you, Natsu, think I would give up that easily?" he said, and turned into shadow, making himself able to get out from under Loki's strong foot.

Then his disappeared.

"Hey! What are you doing?" yelled Natsu. They were both looking all around them.

'I'm just warming up." said Rouge with a laugh.

I looked at Natsu in the bright sun that had just came out from behind the clouds, and saw Rouge.

"Behind you Natsu!" I yelled, but I was too late.
