August 9th
Millie"So today's the big day, babe, you excited?" The sleepy voice I have come to love so much asked, a smile obvious in his voice.
I stayed quiet for a moment, thinking it over. "I don't wanna leave you." I confused quietly after a moment.
The thought of going home after this last year was almost unbearable. Sure I missed Ava and my friends, but they were safer when I was locked away in here. Because when I got out she would come after me and anyone who stood in her way.
I felt the bed shift from beside me, his arm snaking around my waist. "I'll miss you too." Finn whispered truthfully. "But I'll join you in just a week or so." He kissed my cheek. "Besides Noah will be with you so don't worry."
"I'm not worried." I turned to face him, forcing a small smile to appear. "Noah? Really he's my big bad protector?"
From behind us, the smaller boy spoke up. "Hey I'm not so bad, baby cakes, I'm quite the stud and the protector."
I jumped and immediately looked over my shoulder.
Noah and Finn's mom both stood just inside the door. His mom was holding a clipboard in one hand and a bag in the other. "You ready, Mills?" She asked. "Sadie's already at the front, changed and ready to leave."
Nodding slowly, I got up, pulling the raven haired boy up with me. I planned to spend every moment I could with Finn before exiting this place for good.
Okay, so maybe I had spent every waking moment practically by his side since the night of the first lock down; but I never wanted to be anywhere other than there. Now I would be until he could convince them he had changed so they'll let him go. I had faith though because Winona had a lot of pool.
Noah was in normal clothes for the first time since I met him, a faded Metallica t-shirt and ripped jean with vans. He looked like a normal teenage boy now that he wasn't wearing the grey cotton sweatpants and shirt.
"Here you can change in the bathroom." Winona handed me the bag, and I went into the bathroom.
Inside the bag was a pink off-the-shoulder sweater, that looked really soft, a pair of jeans, pink Converse hightops, and my jewelry. They were the only thing in this bag that actually belonged to me.
Quickly, I slipped them onto my fingers and the Owl necklace over my head. I hadn't taken the necklace off since Charlie gave it to me for my fifth birthday. Charlie. I choked back a few tears at the thought of him. What was it gonna be without him home?
I got dressed, fixed my hair back into a ponytail, did some light makeup, and walked back into the room.
"Oh my God." Finn gasped as I reentered the room. "You look so freaking hot like that."
"Thank you." I said, smiling. "Now hurry and get out of here so you can see me more." I walked to him, pressing my lips to his cheek. "Or stay and I'll marry Noah."
"Heck yeah!" Noah cheered from behind us. "I'll totally take her." He was joking, of course, because we were more like siblings after this stent.
Nevertheless it ticked Finn off a little. "Schnapper, what your mouth or I'll beat you myself." He threatened.
"Hey, babe, chill." I pecked his lips. "You know I belong to you." It was a lie, I was no one's, but he came really close. "I'll see you soon."
Finn nodded, his eyes searching mine. "Bye Mills."

I took a few deep breaths as the car pulled onto the road that ran through my subdivision. I wasn't ready to go home yet. I wasn't ready to face my parent. They hadn't come to see me once and I wasn't sure they wanted to.
From beside me, Sadie gripped my hand tighter. "Charles?" She said. "Take us to the house."
Our driver, James Charles, looked back through the mirror. "You crazy, Red, Miss Ryder will kill me if I don't take the girl home." He said, his voice getting higher as he talked. Winona really scared him.
"Well I said take us to Buckingham and Schnapp now, and I'm not asking for your opinion." Sadie ordered, her voice tight.
If I didn't love her, I would be terrified right now; obviously James was because he kept driving until he was far from my house.
"Thank you." I said, leaning my head on her shoulder.
"No problem, sweetheart." She kissed my head. "Maybe I just didn't wanna let you go yet."
I smiled softly, intertwining our fingers. "I'm not going anywhere."
