Jack
"I understand, Jack, you were write to call me." She said, her hands laced before her like always when she was thinking.
I stayed silent a moment watching the way her white hair fell in waves around her face, so young and graceful looking. "Veronica, the Browns are getting antsy and irritated with their daughter. They won't last much longer."
"I was afraid of that." Veronica shook her head. "They'll send her back."
I sat up in my chair. They would not send my Mills back to that awful place ever. She couldn't help the condition. "Take her in, we have the room and the Browns would gladly let you have her." I suggested quickly.
She seemed to ponder on this, twirling a piece of hair. "I suppose we could but then we'd have to move back." She sounded far away as she spoke.
"Perfect!" I half shouted, springing up out of the chair. "I'll call Kelly."
Half an hour later I was sitting in Veronica's old blue Ford truck, the classic rock drifting softly through the speakers. This was the life I missed.
Veronica Harris was pushing thirty with white blonde hair and gorgeous green eyes, she was the kind of person who people walked up to on the street and just started talking. Ronnie took me in when I was six and cared for me every since. She was kinda like an adopted mom to Millie too so I couldn't wait to see the look on her face when we told her Veronica was gonna take her in.

Finn
I woke up to the sound of crying and voices coming from the room next to mine. Was Noah okay? Had something happened to Lilia?
I rose from bed and quickly made my way next door, not caring I was just in pajama pants. "Noa-" I stopped once my eyes landed on the girl curled up on Noah's queen sized bed. "Mills?"
She looked up at me with bloodshot eyes. "Finn?"
I couldn't tell if it was a question or a sob, but I walked to the bed and sat down.
Millie didn't say anything but when she did the words stung. "You didn't come for me." She sounded sadder than she had a moment ago. "You promised to come find me."
"You looked so happy though every time I would see you." I tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I didn't want to ruin it, princess."
"I wasn't happy." She sat up. "Not without you." With that she threw her arms around my shoulders and clung to me for dear life.
After awhile she calmed and explained the events of the last twenty-four hours. I couldn't blame her for what happened to Wyatt, but I'd be lying if I said the blackout idea didn't scare me some.
"Princess?" I looked down at her softly to find she had fallen asleep.
Quietly, I picked her up, carried her back to my room, and gently laid her down. "Sleep well, my darling."
Short chapter but an important one. 4 chapters left.
