Screaming. That had been the noise which woke me, and whoever screamed was going to be dead in about ten seconds.

Dragging myself from bed, I stood and walked into the hallway. "Sink, was that you?" I asked accusingly.

Sadie, who sat examining her nails, shook her head. "Me? You know dang well that's Caleb's scream. Gaten and Noah jumped him on his way back from the bathroom because Caleb pissed in his shampoo bottle this morning"

"Well at least it he deserved it." I said with an eye roll.

Sadie watched me for a moment before shrugging as a way to dismiss me. Something she did a lot.

Leaving the redhead behind, I walked to the office room where Winona should be watching television and snacking on chips.

Today had been horrible, an absolute nightmare. All the keypad locks on our side of the building stopped working at once meaning anyone could come as go as they please to and from any room.

You know how hard it is to keep psychos from randomly slumping in while you're trying to nap and plot? Extremely.

So right now what I needed was to sit with my mother and watch some mindless show. To my surprise my mother was not alone, but across from her sat a girl in a floral dress. The ends of her dress along with her hands seemed to be covered in blood.

Never a good sign in this place.

This girl wasn't an inmate already though I would have remembered her. No she was new and by the looks of it very scared. This place was going to swallow her up in a nanosecond.

The petite brunette girl was answering a question as I walked up so natural I just stood there and listened.

"Miss Winona," I sighed finally. "Did Shannon write down my chores this morning?" It was an obvious lie because I never do chores, the girl; however, did not need to know this.

Mother looked up at me while the girl turned completely around. "Um, no she didn't." Mom shook her head. "I'll mark it for you, Finn."

I nodded and half smiled at the brunette.

She smiled back and I swear I've never seen someone smile so pretty. Everything about her was so different from the girls I knew. She looked proper and sweet, but something in her eyes told me she wasn't as innocent as she looked and to not underestimate her.

That could have just been the blood though.

"Finn, this is Millie. She's going to be staying here for awhile." Mother said in an almost warning tone.

Millie didn't seem to notice her tone and smiled again. "Nice to meet you, Finn." She said, an accent I hadn't expected lacing her words.

"As to you." I nodded, looking at her a little longer than I should have.

Mother picked up on this and sighed. "Finn, if you wish to do something you could do more chores. No one has done theirs yet."

I nodded again. "Okay give me the chart." I walked into the room and held my hand out expectantly.

Mom handed me the clipboard with a tight smile. One of those we will being talking later smiles that parents give. "If you could just bring it back when you're done."
