Millie

Turning onto my side, I stared at the little girl sleeping peacefully beside me and smiled. I was finally feeling like me again. The Millie before Hallows Heath, but the thoughts still lingered.

The thoughts of Noah, Sadie, and Gaten. Of sunsets and crazy outing in the middle of the night to make Winona mad. Of Finn singing softly as I'm snuggled into his chest, his fingers combing my hair. The look in his eyes the night we first kissed while watching the sunset.

I just missed Finn in general, but I couldn't ever have him because he was still in that damned place. He would be for so long that it would be too late for us to ever have a future. I would end up marrying Romeo, with three kids, and living in a subdivision at the end of Cherry Drive.

Just like every woman on my family tree I would be a house wife and a mother. While the man I loved was locked away and my brother's killer still running around loose and getting their way.

"Why are you crying?" I felt the tiny hand on my cheek before Ava even spoke.

I sighed. "I was just thinking, baby, don't worry about it." I pulled her into my arms and hugged her tightly.

Ava was the one good thing in this world that no one was ever going to take away from me. She was the one thing that kept me sane through everything. The child I fought so hard for to have everything she wanted in this cold world. They weren't get to her like they did Charlie I guarantee that.

We laid like this for at least five minutes before Mother called for dinner, and I was forced to get ready for yet another party that Maddie was dragging me to.

She was excited because the party was at a large mansion literally on the wrong side of the tracks. I thought it was overrated but yet she got her way.

___

The green satin curved down down my body and hugged it in all the right places-something I detested, but the blue eyed girl wouldn't stand for anything less. It was paired with my old tennis shoes and Charlie's old raven necklace.

I sighed, smoothing the dress down. "Do I have to go?" I asked for the umpteenth time that night. "I mean I'll only slow you down and this is our fourth party in a month."

"Exactly. Which means we're falling behind and you're totally distracted nowadays." Maddie finished her eyeliner, looking up at me through the mirror. "You used to live for this kind of thing, babe."

I didn't wanna think about the life that now felt like someone else's life entirely. "Well I'm not exactly cheer captain or the arm candy of a star quarterback anymore." I bent to tie my shoes so I wouldn't have to stare into her fierce blue eyes.

"You're still the arm candy of the star quarterback unless something has changed in the past for hours." She stated, crossing the room to pull me to my feet. "You are from one of the founding families of this town and will always be royalty here." She pulled my sleeve up. "Get over yourself."

I let her treat me like I was a Barbie-something she had always done-and soon we were in her Mercedes on the way to the middle of nowhere.

Her words stuck in my head. "I'm nothing anymore." I mumbled quietly. "Not since Charlie."

___

Finn

Our annual party was underway once again. Lilia was buzzing around the room so fast I could barely make out her blonde hair and black dress among the crowd of teenagers. Some kids from Harlem High had crashed, not that anyone cared.

I was focused on the awaited arrival of Wyatt Oleff and his cronies. They would be here at any given moment and I planned to show Oleff a thing or two for what he did to my sister.

It wasn't the first thing he had tried something with Lilia, but it was the only time I couldn't stop him. And for that I was sorry.

"You look lonely." Sadie leaned her back against the wall next to me.

I smiled a little at her words. "Nah, I'm just peachy, Red." I replied. "Caleb was looking for you."

Sadie shifted part of her hair back. "I'm trying to find him to."

Before another word could be said my eyes landed on a sandy blonde haired boy and his four friends. "Bingo." I smirked. "Excuse me."

I didn't make it to Wyatt, however, for a laugh caught my attention. Spinning around, I saw her in all her glory. Millie was once again so close that I could almost feel her.

She looked as lovely as ever, even better if she wasn't leaning against the only other British person in Hallow Falls. Romeo.

She was so happy with him though and wasn't that what mattered? My happiness didn't matter half as much as hers did, and she belonged on his arm in the socialite world. I could never give her that so why should we even pretend.

I looked away as he leaned forward to kiss her. Find Wyatt, Finn, stop thinking about that girl. That's all she is: a girl. But now both were gone from my sight. "Crap."
