Red? I first thought that maybe she was speaking of something ridiculous, he saw red? Maybe that was the affects of him dying. No way that made any sense, right? I thought of brushing it off, to maybe assume that Moniker was lying or going crazy. But the flashbacks of my death came to me in a line of painful hits.

My blood.

Now that I think on it, nobody in this world would know what blood looks like. How can I explain that to Brite? There's really no explaining, in fact, she'd properly deem me a crazy person.

"Brite."

Being brought out of a deep thought, her pink hair swung in my direction. I leaned back and to my relief she hadn't smacked me to the other side of the room with it.

"Do you know what blood is?"

"Blood?" Her eyebrows drew close on her face, the skin in between them touched.

Figures.

"Yes-"

I sighed, this is going to be hard.

"-its just like.. the items that drop when you die."

Great, now she looks even more confused.

"Uhm, and instead of it being...items, right? It's red and it's like a thick liquid."

Brite huffed and formed a bubble in her mouth, the action making her cheeks puff up in the cutest way. I forced myself to shove down the laugh that was trying to come out.

"So," She paused, which I'm guessing was to do a double check over her thoughts, "you're telling me that the red stuff Moniker saw was this..blood?"

I nodded, "Exactly."

"Okay then why do you..uhm-"

"Bleed?"

"Yeah, why do you bleed and we don't? Is blood just like death? Is blood an item? Did you bleed because you're from Earth? Is that why you took so long to respawn? Do people respawn on Earth? I assume not-"

"Brite."

She nearly gave me a migraine.

She stopped, the quick darting of her eyes was a clear hint that she realized her ranting. Not only that but she was embarrassed about it, I could tell that by the blush on her face.

Wait, blush? How the hell is she blushing? Isn't that due to blood? I couldn't be bothered to ask to go any further with my curiousity. It's a damn game, things happen without any exact explanation.

For a minute we sat there, both pondering and letting the thoughts sink in. I hadn't noticed the atmosphere until now, it was undeniably tense, the weight of reality settling in hard now.

I'm not invincible, I never was.

Maybe the island saved my ass once, but what if I were to die a second time? Would I take even longer to respawn, would I respawn at all? With a heavy chest I shifted away from the bed, if one thing could help it would be to find this out once and for all. My fingers dug into the palm of my hand while it formed into a tight fist.

I had expected Brite to ask about my whereabouts, but even after I walked out of the room she hadn't said a single word. Maybe it was the tense and unsettling aura in the air, she probably figured that I needed some space.

Around this time of year it's the hottest it could get. The brisk air that gently brushed over my skin was the only thing keeping me sane.

Each day that passes, I start to miss it back on Earth.
