D E V I N
I didn't feel like complaining to them about my romantic life. If I could even call it that. Graizen and I only shared one kiss, and it obviously meant nothing to him. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to fall apart inside. I hated how much I cared about him. He was literally on my mind every second of every day. I had to pick up a new hobby to distract myself. My feet led me to the gym, as I turned my music on full volume. I put a pair of earbuds in, tuning out the rest of the world. I grabbed a pair of boxing gloves, quickly strapping them to my arms. The whole world went away as I launched my fist with every ounce in me at the bag. It stumbled back towards me. I sent it on the same path again with my fist. Each punch slowly lost its form, as I found myself violently attacking the bag. Sweat formed at my forehead and arms as I felt my heart beat sporadically in my chest. I sent an intense kick to the side of the bag, sending it flying off its hinges. The bag hit the wall with a thud. I stared at it with my chest heaving up and down. Anger was pounding deep in my chest as I kept my eyes on the bag. I felt a hand on my shoulder as I instantly turned around, my fists in the air. I relaxed as my eyes fell on Locke, holding his arms up in defense. I pulled my earbuds out, silencing my music.
"Woah there, are you okay?" Locke almost seemed scared as he took in my appearance.
"Fine." I huffed out as I went to go pick up the punching bag.
"Good job today, by the way. You were a badass."
I lightly smiled at his words. Locke is always so nice to me, and always there for me. Graizen hates that. I mentally cursed, I need to stop thinking about him. I need to move on from him. My eyes fell on Locke. He is quite attractive. I bet he has girls lined up for him. Why have I never noticed this before?
"Why are you always so nice to me?" I asked, my eyes glued to his.
"That's just who I am." He simply stated. "Plus, I find you quite enticing."
"Enticing?" My cheeks instantly went red. I looked at the floor, avoiding his gaze.
"There's just something about you, Devin ." He took a step closer to me. "You're constantly on my mind. I just want to learn everything about you."
I was shocked as those words left his lips. I had no idea those thoughts were in his head.
"Okay." I said. I instantly regretted my words. I was unsure of what to even say. I wasn't going to lie and say the same thing back to him. I don't feel the same way, but that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve a chance.
"I know you don't feel the same." He said my thoughts aloud.
"You deserve so much more than chasing after Graizen all day. He's basically slept his way through the entire town."
I felt a wave of jealousy spread over me. "He has?"
"He has this game." Locke explained. "He does this thing where he is always hot and cold with girls, it keeps them interested. He makes them think they have this great love, and that they're drawn to eachother. He even goes as far to tell a few of them that they're his link, his other half. Then, he sleeps with them and never speaks to them again. I've seen him do it to almost every girl here."
I've never felt so humiliated in my life. I swallowed down a few tears as I turned my head away from Locke. He just described the exact way Graizen has been treating me. I should've known it was all a game to him.
"Wow." I simply said. I tried to pretend I didn't care, but we both knew that wasn't true.
"Hey, don't feel bad. I just wanted to tell you before you let him take advantage of you or anything." Locke softly said.
I remained silent, my eyes on the floor.
"No," He breathed out. "You didn't sleep with him, did you?"
I shook my head as fast as I could. "No, no." I assured him. "We kissed."
"Oh," Locke shrugged. "That's nothing."
I almost laughed. "It was my first kiss."
Locke's eyes filled with disbelief as he stared down at me. "First kiss? You?"
I didn't say anything. I have no idea why I told him that. Jax doesn't even know I've never kissed anyone. Well, not anymore.
"I never would've thought that. I bet guys throw themselves at you." Locke stated. I burst out laughing, holding onto my stomach. Locke gave me a weird look as I tried to hold my laughter in.
"You're hilarious."
His hand lightly caressed my cheek. My smile dropped as I move away from him. He could tell I felt uncomfortable as he dropped his hand and awkwardly cleared his throat. I stood up, suddenly feeling the air in the room shift.
"I should probably get some rest." My voice sounded uneasy as I looked away from him. I turned on my heel, heading towards the door.
"Hey, I'm sorry." He blurted out. I turned my body around to face him. I could tell my cheeks were burning from embarrassment as I leaned against the wall.
"Once you get over Graizen, let me know. Until then, just friends?" Locke asked, sounding hopeful. I nodded, a smile forming across my face.
"Just friends."
That was the last thing I said before practically running up to my room. I'm not entirely sure what just happened. Did he hit on me? I'm not used to getting male attention like that. My stomach felt uneasy as I recalled what he had revealed about Graizen. What did he mean about getting over him? I barely know him. It shouldn't be a problem to get over him. I barely even have feelings for Graizen. I hate him most of the time anyway. I let my thoughts wonder as I stared up at the ceiling.
"Devin!"
I jumped as Aphelia, Aster and Micah all burst through my door. They were each holding lots of clothes in their hands, and bags filled with stuff I can't even begin to guess. I raised an eyebrow as they set everything down onto my bed. I looked into the bags, noticing makeup and hair curlers filled in them.
"I'm confused."
"We're having a formal ball to celebrate our newest member of Donum." Aster squealed out, as she began sorting through the dresses. My eyes widened as I stared at the magnificent dress pieces laid out in front of me. There was no way they were getting me to wear any of these.
"We wanted to surprise you with all of this." Aphelia jumped excitedly as she pulled me up from the bed. I shook my head, staring down at everything in front of me.
"Thank you, really. I just don't know if I feel like getting all dressed up."
"Told you guys she would say that!" Micah rolled her eyes as she grabbed the dresses from the bed. I gave her a sympathetic smile as she let out a long sigh.
"Wait!" Aphelia yelled out as she placed her hands onto my shoulders. "We brought back up."
Aphelia smirked at me as Rayner and Ryker came in carrying more dresses in their hands. Ryker almost tripped as he through them onto the bed. "Alright ladies, we've got an hour to get ready. Saddle up bitches because it's going to be a ride!" Rayner yelled out, as I burst out laughing.
Oh no.
