"How could you let this happen?"

"How was I supposed to know Jax was drinking? I'm not his babysitter, Graizen."

"You left her alone with him. You're supposed to protect her, she's your family."

"Um, that's kinda hard to do with my neck snapped."

I gasped for air as I opened my eyes. Bright lights surrounded me, as fear settled in my bones. I looked around the room, my eyes wild. My breathing was wild as I put my hand to my chest, taking in my surroundings.

I'm alive.

Graizen, Rayner, Ryker and Aphelia were all in the room. Their eyes were on me, full of concern. Memories flooded back to me as I closed my eyes. I remember the pain, I remember the fear, I remember everything. Graizen was instantly at my side as I opened my eyes again. I couldn't decipher the emotion that was displayed across his face. I had never seen him like this before. I almost thought I was dreaming as his fingers gently brushed up against the side of my face, causing sparks to fly through me. I almost allowed myself to get lost in that moment until reality hit me.

"Where is he?" I asked, unsure if I wanted to know the answer.

"Dead is what he should be. He's in isolation, he's lost it completely this time." Graizen explained with disgust in his eyes. I let out a deep breath. He's alive. That's all that matters to me.

"How bad are my injuries? I don't feel any pain right now." I calmly said.

"That's the thing. That night, we brought you to medic. You had three broken ribs and a grade three concussion." Graizen slowly said to me, letting me take it all in. I looked down in shock. I didn't feel any of that at all. When it happened, I felt it like crazy. But, not right now.

I feel nothing.

"After we took care of you, the next morning all your injuries were healed. You didn't wake up yet, but everything was gone. It was like it never happened." Graizen continued.

I was completely healed?

"So, you all healed me?" I questioned. That had to be the answer. What other explanation would there be?

"No, Devin. We don't have the ability to heal." Aphelia cut in. "You healed yourself."

I tilted my head in confusion. "What?" I looked down at myself. "My arm, my hand, that was all me?" Aphelia simply nodded as I took this all in.

Was I more than just cursed?

What am I?

Millions of questions flew through my head, but my mind could only focus on one thing.

"I want to see Jax." I breathed out.

"No." Graizen was the first to speak. "Absolutely not happening."

Everyone else in the room remained silent as they gave eachother looks. I grew frustrated as I stared at all of them. "Please." I begged. "You all will be there the whole time, I won't even stand within ten feet of him."

"Thia, I said no and that's final." Graizen demanded. I stood up, challenging him.

"You don't have the right to command me around so don't even think for a second I'm going to obey you." I spat out.

He didn't seem phased as I stared him down.

"Just so you know Graizen, I was going to let her see him either way."

Aphelia quickly said from behind us. Graizen shot her a glare as I gave her a light smile. She was instantly at my side as I got up from the bed. I winced as my feet hit the floor. My body felt as if I hadn't moved it in years. I had no pain where my injuries were. I only felt a dull ache as I walked towards the hallway. Everyone filed into the elevator, as silence surrounded us. I stared at the floor as we moved down, but I could feel Graizen's eyes on mine. Aphelia pulled me straight out of the elevator as the doors opened. We were in a section of the house I had never seen before. Aphelia punched in a code as the doors opened to a room. It looked a lot like a hospital. She pulled back a curtain, revealing a sleeping Jax. I crossed my arms as I stared at his motionless body. He was breathing slowly, unmoving.

"Does he know what happened?" I turned around to face everyone behind me.

"Yes. He's not himself, though." Graizen cut in, as he stood beside me. Jax stirred in his sleep as he let out a groan. I was about to approach him, as I felt Graizen's arm pull me back.

"Stay beside me."

He quickly said, but didn't make any attempt to let me go. Jax's eyes snapped open, as they frantically scanned over the room. His eyes landed on me, as a haunting look took over his face.

"Please, come here. I'm not going to hurt you." His voice was unreadable as he stared at me. Graizen's grip tightened as I turned around to face him.

"What are you doing? Let me go." I demanded. He gave me an annoyed look as he released my hand. I slowly approached Jax, as his eyes stayed glued to mine.

"Please. I need you." Jax's voice cracked as he said this. He didn't move at all. I felt uneasy as I stopped in place.

"I'm going to stay right here."

I motioned to the floor as I stared into him. Something flashed in his eyes as his entire body lunged forward. I held my hands up in front of my face, but nothing came. Opening my eyes, I watched as Jax struggled in his bed. I noticed his arms and legs were cuffed to the bed, strapping him down. He began violently screaming and thrashing around as he stared at me with his eyes full of malice. I slowly backed away in horror as I watched the Jax I knew disappear before my eyes.

"Let me go! Let me go!"
