I didn't wait for him to say anything else as I bolted through the woods. My breath was wild in my ears, drowning out the sound of everything around me. The woods were almost pitch black as I searched and searched for Ryker.

"Ryker!"

My voice echoed through the woods, bouncing off the trees as I threw my hands in the air. I had no idea where I was going, no idea where to look as I ran aimlessly around the forest. I quickly stopped in place as another cabin came into view. It was a lot smaller than the one we were staying in. The door had been broken into, shattered in half. Blood trailed along the floor as my eyes scanned the small space. I saw a shadow move in the dark, sitting on the floor in the middle of the kitchen. As my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I saw the figure stabbing itself repeatedly in the chest with a knife.

"Ryker!"

My body was beside his in an instant as his haunting eyes recognized me. He held the knife in his chest, piercing it into his heart. I grabbed onto the blade, fighting against him as I tried to pull it out of him. Ryker shook his head as he kicked me in the ribs. I flew back, my head colliding into one of the counters. I sighed in pain as I rubbed my head, standing up from the ground. I was thankful as my injuries healed, they were taking less time to heal now since I was actively using my powers. I put my hands up in the air as Ryker plunged the weapon deeper into his chest. He closed his eyes, no doubt trying to light in on fire in his hands. If he succeeded in that, he would take his own life. I couldn't find the words to stop him from doing it as I looked at the four walls around me. Sweat dripped down my face as I trembled in place. He was exhausted, I could tell. He was trying to use every last drop of strength in him to create fire in his hands.

"Don't do this, Ryker." I took a step closer to him. "This isn't going to solve anything."

Ryker threw his head back as his sadistic laughter filled the air. Chills ran through my entire body as I stared into his lifeless eyes. This man that I was staring at was not Ryker. Part of me knew that when Aphelia died, Ryker would go with her.

"That's where you're wrong."

Keep him talking. All I need to do is keep him talking with me. He's losing his energy with every second. The longer I keep this up, the less power he'll have to kill himself.

"We need you, Ryker." I took one more step closer to him. "Rayner needs you, Graizen needs you, I need you."

I was trying to be as selfish as I could in this moment.

"A-Aphelia needs you to stay here. With us."

I was now kneeling next to him. Sweat was covering his entire body, as he looked up at me with innocent eyes. He was genuinely and completely lost. Ryker looked so young, so vulnerable in this moment. I gently placed my hand around the knife, as his eyes remained on mine. He let me pull the knife out of his chest, as I threw it across the room. Ryker's body collapsed onto the ground as I hugged his back. He screamed into the floor, almost breaking my eardrums from the sound. It was at this moment that Jax ran through the cabin doors. The second his eyes landed on Ryker's body, he twisted his hand in the air. Ryker's neck instantly snapped in the air, as his cries ceased. I shot up from the ground, my eyes wide.

"Jax, what the hell is wrong with you?"

"He's a danger to himself and everyone around him, Devin. For the next 48 hours, he's going to lose it. He can't be awake for the first two days, not if he's going to survive this."
