"Wow." I anxiously gulped as neon fluorescent lights flooded my retina and the deep base, resonating throughout the main room, vibrated my chest; convincing my body that my pounding heart was rattling inside my rib cage.
"Looks like you're gonna need a drink." Chris suggested keenly observing my obvious discomfort in social situations; the last thing he wanted was for the sweetest girl he knew to spend her New Year's Eve with anxiety picking her every thought. Too bad he couldn't be the one to comfort her...
"You know me so well, Evans." I softly smiled as he laced his silky fingers with my own, leading me towards the mini bar. Weeding through the crowd of strangers sloppily dancing into oblivion, his gentle grip tightened, causing a searing ring to form around my heart. My eyes hardly took notice of the drunk men and woman clumsily bumping into me, my senses didn't seem to register the rough fabrics brushing against my skin; in fact, my surroundings seemed to disappear as soon as our fingers touched.
What is going on?
"Uhm, Chris..." I sheepishly asked gently tugging the smooth leather of his jacket sleeve, not expecting him to hear my meek voice over our surroundings.
"Yes." He immediately answered whipping his head around to face me, his vibrant eyes pooling with concern as his brows furrowed.
"I-I think I want to go home." I hesitantly confessed routinely biting my bottom lip in embarrassment; my hand still resting gently on is forearm.
"Come with me." He suggested in a consoling tone tipping his chin up; running his hand down his sleeve over mine, nimbly intertwining his fingers with my own.
Pulling me into a dimly lit, secluded hallway, I found myself staring up into cunning blue eyes piercing through the darkness; causing a jar of tightly sealed butterflies to burst.
"You alright?" He implored in a worried tone as his voice vibrated my spine, his breath fanning against my face rendering my speechless. Harper was right. I was in fucking deep, and I didn't know what to do.
"Stella?" I heard an all too familiar voice asked skeptically.
"Sebastian?" I choked out immediately stiffening my composure, hastily brushing strands of hair from my face.
"Chris?" He continued as his eyes widened and his dropped jaw smugly turned into a suggestive smirk, cutting both Chris and I a supportive wink.
"Stella?" Another voice questioned.
My god, is the whole fucking crew in this hallway too dammit?
"Scar!" I enthusiastically responded squeezing past Chris's structure towering over mine, continuing to envelope her in my arms.
"You two busy?" Scarlett devilishly smirked cocking her brow towards my eyes widened in embarrassment.
"Just chatting, that's all." I quickly replied dismissively waving my hand at her accusation.
"You ready to dance the night away?" She asked as the devouring pit in my stomach softened at her words. Dancing sounded a hell of a lot better than drinking bottles of wine alone.
"Fuck yea." I cheekily grinned as she firmly gripped my wrist and led me towards the crowded dance floor overflowing with strangers, alcohol, and flashing lights. However, before leaving the hallways closure, my clicking heels were pulled to a holt.
"Stell." Chris called out as the sound of my name rolling off his tongue repeated in my head like a mantra.
"Don't go fooling around too much." Scarlett suggestively winked nearly shoving me in Chris's direction.
"Yes?" I gulped as an odd sensation shot from my toes to my fingertips, my senses unconsciously burning a memory of his poignant cologne into my mind.
"You sure you'll be alright? Do you want me to-" He began with worry lacing his tone which caused my heart to melt into puddle of emotions.
He actually cares for my wellbeing, he cares when he could be out partying with his friends enjoying himself. He cares.
"Yes, Chris. You can stay with me. I'd like that very much." I interrupted as an evident red rushed to his cheeks and a dry chuckle vibrated inside his throat; not a single word escaping his opening and closing mouth.
He's so cute when he's flustered.
"Is someone a bit flustered?" I acknowledged tilting my head up towards him while crossing my arms flush against my chest; my stinging cheeks alerting me that the warmth was followed by a rosy tone.
"You expect me not to be when you look like that?" He boldly admitted anxiously holding his breath while chewing his bottom lip; his widened eyes conveying just how unaware he was of that fact that his previous statement was indeed said aloud.
Jesus Christ did I just say that out loud? Holy fuck I did. WHAT DO I DO NOW?

"3.... 2.... 1! Happy New Year!" The entire crowd boomed in unison as flamboyant colors erupted in the velvety night sky, causing my hands to sloppily wave above my head in celebration; the piercing sound vibrating freshly in my ears as champagne, spewing from clinking glasses, sprayed my face. Turning to face Chris, every muscle in my body contracted when I felt his lush, plump lips eagerly crash into mine, and in return my helplessly longing lips meshed with his seamlessly. My entire body simply melted into him as my eyes shut in pure bliss; the feeling of his hand snaked around my waist, while the other delicately maneuvered up the small of my back, sending the hair on my neck to stand pin straight; almost as if it were touched by electricity.
"Happy New Year Stella Fitzgerald." He breathed out as his lips brushed gently against mine, the sudden stream of air filling my lungs causing my eyes to flicker open; my blurred vision only bringing into focus the man mere inches from my face, completely disregarding my boisterous surroundings, only focusing on the cheeky smile plastered across his lips and the lively colors dancing in his eyes.
"Happy New Year Christopher Evans." I breathlessly answered savoring the sweet taste of him left on my skin, my head dropping back in contentment as a louder than intended sigh escaped my lips.
