Love In a Briefcase- Chapter 7

Edited.

The next morning, Jade woke up to the sound of her alarm beeping. After groaning and murmuring a 'five more minutes' with her sleep filled voice, Jade fell asleep again to be woken up by her annoying alarm clock again. She let out a groan but got up nevertheless and stretched. Jade rubbed her fists against her eyes to get rid of the haziness of sleep and slipped onto her slippers. She made her way towards her marble bathroom and brushed her teeth before entering the shower.

When she finished, she wrapped her body with a fluffy white towel. Jade entered her walk-in closet and looked at herself in her full length mirror.

She was not one to say that she did not like her body. In fact, she honestly loved it. She had a hourglass figure which most women would die for and curves in all the right places. She had normal sized breasts, not to big but not too small either and she had long tan legs. Her mid-back length dyedwavy  brown hair was tied up in a messy bun on the top of her head. She had baby blue eyes, a small nose and full pink lips.

She turned her attention to her clothes and wondered what she would wear for the day.
After putting on her outfit which consisted of a grey two piece woman suit and a red blouse, doing a natural styled make-up and putting on some jewelry, she chose a pair of red stilettos and sprayed on some perfume. She took a red handbag and exited her room.

In the kitchen, she opened the refrigerator and took out her frozen already-made pancakes to heat them up. She then turned the coffee maker on and inserted a mocha cartridge.

The pancakes ready and her mocha made, Jade sat on the couch of the living room and ate her breakfast while watching the morning news.
The tofu pancakes had been made the previous day by the maid, Ursula. In fact, they were absolutely disgusting. She never liked tofu and as much as she liked Ursula, her cooking was not something she would recommend to anybody. But, unfortunately she could not go to work with an empty stomach as she was not sure if she would have the time to take lunch with all the work Alejandro and her had planned for the day.

Alejandro.

He had been all she could think about since the previous day when they had shared a kiss. The kiss. Oh, the passionate kiss. She just could not help but replay the scene in her head over and over again.
His luscious lips on hers; his large hands touching her skin. It had felt so, so good.

Ugh! She was doing it again; thinking about him was definitely not appropriate. He was her co-worker, only her co-worker, not anything else.

But he was just so-

No, Jade...Stop right there! You can't afford to be heartbroken. Men are a waste of time.

But he is just so sexy! So, ugh!

She could not even describe how attractive the man was.

Snapping out of her daze, she looked at her watch and quickly turned the television off when she realized that it was already thirty minutes past eight. She hurriedly threw away the half of the disgusting pancake that she did not eat and snatched her handbag and her briefcase, checking if the files she needed for the day were in it, before walking out of her penthouse and locking the door behind her.

Jade walked down the hallway and entered the elevator, pressing the  ground floor button.

Arriving in the lobby, she greeted some of her neighbours before exiting the building. She hurriedly walked through the underground car park and unlocked her Porsche before entering the red vehicle. At nine o'clock on the dot, Jade walked through the large glass doors of the law firm and was surprised when Adam did not come greet her. Not seeing her assistant, Jade walked towards Mia, the receptionist, who was sitting behind her desk and not doing anything, as per usual.
