Aphmau POV | Chapter Twelve

I stood on the platform, adjusting my Marionette outfit. I heard metal clanking, and quietly cleared my throat as I rose out of my present-like box. The private Marionette room was filled with children and teenagers alike. I saw my friends entering, surprise written on many of their faces.
"Hello. I'm the Marionette. What song would you like me to sing?" I asked, keeping up my charade. A little girl ran up to me and spoke.
"Please sing Join Us For a Bite! It's my favorite!" She smiled, clearly very happy. I myself smiled, and replied,
"Very well. I shall sing Join Us For a Bite." And cleared my throat.

I curtsied as the teens and children clapped, and thought about the lyrics.

"Because somebody purple murdered me". It was strange. Something purple had murdered me as well. Huh. Weird. I heard a clanging noise from behind the box. The stairs used for taking the Marionette in and out of the box. I gave one last curtsy, and sank into my box, saying,
"If you wish to hear me sing again, just turn the handle on my box. Goodbye." I listened as the footsteps stopped, and the sound of children laughing faded away. The platform rose once more, and I prepared my lines.
"Hello. I'm the Marionette. What song would you like me to-?!" A hand clamped over my mouth, and I was pulled out of the box. The person set me down on the floor. I stayed there, motionless, pretending that I was deactivated.
"Aph, you can get up. The door's locked, so no one will disturb us." That was Garroth's voice! The group had stayed to talk with me! I got up and brushed the dust off my skirt.
"Hey guys. I saw you watched me sing. What are you doing here?" I asked. That's when I noticed the bag. It was moving, and something was trying to get out. Lucinda opened it, and Max yanked himself out. His eyes were dulled, and he was lashing out at anyone who tried to get close to him.
"What the? Oh my Irene, what's wrong with him?" I panicked, and he turned to look at me.
