Thirty

You hummed softly as you kicked a few stones as you were on your way to school. Jungkook walked behind you as he tried to muster up the courage to talk to you, instead he just gave up and stuffed his hands into his pockets.

His head was filled with thoughts that made him go weak in the knees, thoughts that made his heart beat ten times faster. Thoughts about..you.

It was the same feeling you had. Although your actions didn't show it, you were nervous that you feared he would hear the beat of your heart. That's why you began humming in the first place. You couldn't even look him the eyes. When he came to pick you up for school you had your head down and muttered a simple 'Hi' before running ahead.

You were getting closer and closer towards the school when you felt a harsh tug on your arm pulling you to the other side of the sidewalk.

Jungkook..

One of his arms was wrapped tightly around you and the other held the back of your head. His breaths were heavy and unsteady which made you confused. Slowly you brought up your arms and wrapped them around his waist which made you smile as you inhaled his scent.

"I'm sorry, miss!" You pulled away and turned to the boy in front of you who looked like he was about to cry. You crouched down and pouted a little.

"What for?"

"My brakes weren't working and I couldn't stop. I would've hit you if your boyfriend didn't pull you away in time. I-Im really s-sorry." Tears started flowing from his eyes which made you pull him into a tight hug.

"I'm fine right now so you don't need to worry about me..okay?" He nodded softly. You smiled before wiping his tears with the tip of your thumb.

"M-Miss, your boyfriend is scary." Your eyes widened as you shook your head.

"He's not my boyfriend." You turned to Jungkook before punching him softly on his arm which made him snap out of his trance. He was shooting daggars at the boy and he wasn't holding back.

His eyes softened as he looked at the little boy. You watched him as he crouched down in front of him.

"Um, mister.."

"Just get on my back. That's a nasty cut and I'm pretty sure it hurts." You ruffled the boy's hair as he wrapped his arms around Jungkook's neck which made all of you laugh lightening the mood.

"Miss?" You turned to him signalling him to continue.

"Where are we going?I'm late for school and I don't want to be punished by my teacher." He pouted before burying his face into Jungkook's shoulder.

"Why would we let you go to school like that? We're going to fix you up and you'll be as good as new in just a few days." Jungkook said trying to cheer him up again which seemed to work.

"Yeah, and maybe you'll get a treat afterwards." As this point he was just over the moon which you absolutely adored. We remained in silence halfway through the walk to our school before you broke it.

"Thank you, Jungkook." He stopped in his tracks and turned his gaze towards you which made you stop as well.

"You should be more careful and you could have been hurt. What were you even thinking about that made you so spaced out?" You blushed before turning around and continuing to walk to school.

"Nothing. Just thinking about school. That's all." Your voice trailed off as you said the last part. Who knew that someone could have this much of an effect on you.

'I want to tell him that...

I'm in love with him.'

We stopped by the guard's office because he always had a first aid kit incases of problems such as this one.

You leaned against the table holding the tiny hand not forgetting to give it a tight squeeze everytime he fliched. Jungkook constantly appologised as he rubbed some alcohol with some cotton balls. He always cared about other people even though he didn't have any relation with them. He was selfless...and that was one of the things you loved about him.

He just finished putting a bandage over it before handing the boy a lollipop which the guard suprisingly also had.

"I'll take him to school so you don't wait up for me." You hummed in confusion. You stood up straight as he picked the boy and lifted him up onto his back. He immediately wrapped his tiny arms around his neck.

"I don't want you to skip anymore classes because of me. I can handle this on my own. I'll be back by second period." He held the sides of my face gently as he placed a kiss on my forehead. You heard a few giggles behind Jungkook which made you blush once again.

Another one of the things you loved about him was that he was sweet. He also had to go to school but he sacrificed his time to take an injured kid to school while I was learning in class. His kisses were so gentle, and so loving and that made all sorts of animals play around in your tummy.

Jungkook made his way down the street in silence before the boy spoke breaking it.

"Your girlfriend is really nice." He said it so simply that it almost sounded true.

"She's amazing."

"If you make her cry, I'll be the nightmare of your dreams. I'll also find you again and pummel you until you land in the hospital so you can feel the pain she feels. So..you should keep her and love her for the rest of your life."

"What makes you think you can take me on little man?" He held his head high as he folded his arms.

"I'm the best boxer in my class so I can definitely take you down."

"Well you won't get to pummel me because I won't make her cry, ever. I never got to ask but, what's your name?"

"Kim Joon Woo. My mother gave me that name because she knew I would grow up handsome and that one day I can be the protector of my family!" He clenched his fist in victory before laughing easing up a bit.

"Looks like we have something in common then." His voice trailed off before he regained his composure.
"About what you said..

I'll love her till the day I die."

"Good." Joonwoo said before falling asleep on Jungkook's shoulder.
