At the end of Don't Forget, as you know if you're reading this, Susie died. Susie is dead, still. That world was not designed to exist without Susie in it for a large number more years. As such, the world collapsed, and they were moved to a different timeline.
At the moment, it may seem as though Noelle and Susie have switched personalities. This, however, is not the case. As I will make much more obvious, Noelle is cruel and mean (and sometimes straight up evil), where as Susie was more just aggressive. Susie is very shy and scared of practically everything (as well as being a huge coward), where as in my book, Noelle is cheerful and bubbly, she's outgoing, it's just that nobody notices her (except Berdly but we don't talk about that).
As for the other timeline? Simple: it's frozen in time, searching for something to fix the hole left by Susie. It's stick that way. I wouldn't say forever, forever is a strong word. But it may take a while to sort it all out.
