You should know who's pov it's in at this point

We hurried into Sans' shop and he immediately began tinkering with the machine. Noelle was avoiding eye contact and Susie was trying to stop herself from crying.

"You're sure you're alright!?" she insisted.

"Yes Susie, I'm fine. Scared, and anxious, but healthy," I replied as calmly as I could.

"well, as healthy as possible after taking a nose dive in a car directly into a river and nearly drowning," Sans added. I glared at him briefly.

"You did what!? Holy shit! You could have died, Kris!" Noelle snapped, forgetting about avoiding me.

"You think I did it on purpose!?"

"stop fighting, you need to cooperate if this is going to work," Sans spat. I sighed.

"He's right. I'm sorry, Noelle. It was wrong to tell at you, I'm just a bit on edge at the moment." I held out my hand for a handshake but she just looked at it shamefully.

"Why are you apologizing to me? I'm the one who got you into this mess! If anything, you deserve an apology! I mean- God, what I did was selfish and horrible, and completely uncalled for, and it's my fault you aren't already back there saving your-"

"Noelle! Listen to me. Nobody is holding it against you. You don't have to worry about it anymore. You've already been forgiven," I assured her. I pulled her into a hug and she started crying.

"Sorry... I fuck everything up. Let's... Let's focus on getting you back." She took a shaky breath and nodded at Susie. "What can I do?" she asked Sans.

...

Soon enough, the "door" was open. It was as stable as it was ever going to be, and the hour was quickly approaching. We had to act fast.

"kid, come here." Sans grabbed my shoulder. "look. it's all up to you. you are the only person left who can save your world. You need to do whatever it takes. now, nothing i say can prepare you for what you're about to go through. you need to be very careful. don't touch anything that doesn't need to be touched, don't move anything that doesn't need to be moved, and do not let anyone get in your way. your one job is to prevent a massacre of everything and everyone you know and love. that may feel like a lot of pressure, and it is, but it's important for you to understand. be. careful."

"I understand. I'll try my best."

I turned back towards the door. Susie ran up beside me, and placed two yellow bows in my hands.

"Keep these, as a memory of me. I won't ever forget about you- at least not voluntarily, if you fail then you- and I'll forget, but- look, just... Remember me, okay?"

Tears welled up in my eyes and I smiled as I hugged her goodbye.

"I won't."

Noelle slowly approached, still obviously feeling guilty.

"I'm sorry, I didn't bring any gifts or anything. Just another example of me messing everything up- just... I'll miss you. Thank you for opening my eyes and helping me learn to take my guard down. I mean, without you, where would I be right now? Not anywhere good, physically or mentally. You've made my life infinitely better, and I am forever in your debt. Thank you. I'm sorry I couldn't do much for you besides, you know, nearly destroying your whole life, but I will miss you. I will never forget everything you've done for me. Thank you, so much." She hugged me quickly and ran back to her place on the side.

Looking back one final time at this cursed world that didn't end up being so bad after all, I smiled. I turned back to the door and carefully stepped through as a familiar white light washed over my vision.
