Kris

It was difficult to get comfy in an ambulance when my anxiety was already going through the roof, in addition to the fear that something would happen and we'd end up crashing. That and the fact that it was an ambulance.

Sans was right, it was a long drive. We'd been on the road for a while now and it was beginning to get dark out. I didn't remember the ride out here being this long.

"Are you sure there's nothing I can do to-"

"look kid, for the millionth time, unless you have money for a coffee, you can't help me. just shut up and... i dunno, try to sleep or something."

I felt pretty useless just sitting there, and I absolutely hate feeling useless. Frustration and anxiety bubbled inside of me, but I stayed in my seat. I leaned my head back and tried to focus on anything other than the sirens or the bump of the ambulance as it does down the road. It was a good thing I was exhausted, as I passed out quickly.

My dream started out with me walking along a strange path. It was very straight and very dark, and was lined by tall looming trees with crimson leaves. I heard some rustling behind me, but I ignored it.

"Kris?"

I turned around and saw nothing, nobody. Again, the voice called.

"Kris, where are you? I just heard..." The voice sighed. "I'm probably overthinking this. I haven't been able to talk to anyone for nearly a week now." The voice continued to grumble to itself.

I looked all around, and still I saw nothing.

"Hello?" I said hesitantly. The grumbling immediately stopped.

"S-someone else is here!? And- And you can hear me!"

"Well, I mean, that depends- who are you?"

"I- my name is Susie."

I didn't respond. I couldn't.

"Are you okay? Why'd you stop talking?"

"I- I'm fine."

"Sorry... I haven't been able to talk to anyone for a week, and I'm kind of desperate. Something happened to me and I don't know what. I'm... I'm scared."

"It's okay. I'm scared too, but I'm coming."

"What? What do you mean, you're coming? Where are you? Who are you?"

I felt myself waking up, and I tried to fight it.

"I don't have time. I'll be there soon. I... I love you."

I woke up. For once, my dream didn't slip from memory immediately. I held onto it like a lifeline.

"good timing, we just got back. welcome back to hometown." Sans set the ambulance into park. I clambered out of the vehicle, glad to finally be back. I looked to my right and saw Susie and Noelle.

"good, you're on time. sorry to call at such insane hours, but it's time to prepare."
