"Austin wake up, you have to go to school and so do I." I said as I woke Austin up. I brought him a glass of water and some pain killers. He was drinking again last night so his head is probably killing him. "Go away." Austin grunted. "No you're getting up you can't miss school especially since it's the first day back after winter break." "I haven't missed any days of school this whole semester one day isn't going to kill me." "Fine, my friend Juliet is picking me up." "Why do you want to go, I mean everyone is going to get up in your business about what happened." Austin was annoyed I could hear it in his voice. "Yes I know but I can't miss school, it's my last year of high school and I need to keep my grades up so I can get into a good college." "Ok whatever, I'll be here." I walked away without responding, he's been drinking every night and sleeping through the whole day. I can't keep doing this he needs to take back control of his life. I know our parents died and he's mourning, but life goes on you still have priorities to do. "Hey I'm here." Juliet texted me. I grabbed my bags heading out the door when Austin asked me to shut the blinds and turn the lights off. After I did what he asked me to I went down stairs and got in Juliet's car. "Hey." Juliet said. "Hey I mumbled. "What's wrong?" Juliet said as she started the car. "Austin, he's been drinking every night and sleeping through the whole day. I don't know what to do, I mean I want to stay with him and help him get through this but he's not willing to help himself. I need to get out of the apartment. It's like he's giving up on life." It felt good to get that out of my system, even though I know she wouldn't know what to say. "What do you mean he's giving up on life?" "He's doesn't want to get off the couch. I only see him get up is when he's going to get some more alcohol. I'm worried about him." "Does he get out atleast." "Yea to go get some more whiskey or vodka or anything with alcohol in it." "What are you going to do?" "I don't know, I want to leave but one I don't want to leave him alone and second I have no where to go." "You could always stay at my place." "I don't want to intrude, besides I'm not leaving him that would only make things worse." "How are you holding up?" "I'm trying to keep myself together for the sake of Austin." "I know you want to stay strong and move on with your life but you need to mourn over your loss."b"I know, I know but I don't want to think about it." "You have to, you can't keep acting like your okay." "I know but I'm fine." "That's exactly what I say when I'm not fine." "Were here." I said jumping out of the car to avoid this conversation. "Are you sure you're ready to go back here." Juliet asked. "Even if I didn't there's no going back it's to far of a drive." "I would drive you back." Juliet suggested. "No you need to be in school and so do I, it's out last year before college and our grades are important if you want to get in a good college." "I know but -" "We aren't leaving." I said cutting her off. "We were an hour late for school because of the drive but they didn't mark us tardy because of my situation. Everyone starred at me when I walked in the classroom. "How are you doing?" My English teacher Mrs. Stone asked. "I'm fine." I replied as I made my way to my seat. I could feel my face turning bright red, everyone kept starring at me like I was some sort of animal. "I'm giving you to next Friday to read the book you were given and write a two page essay." I love getting these assignments. I love reading the book and then writing what I read and my thoughts on it. My teacher handed me the book cinder. The book is about a half human half cyborg girl. The girl represents Cinderella in many ways, but there's a twist on the book. The bell rang notifying us that it's time for second period. I walked into science class and noticed there was a new kid. He had a lip ring and tattoos covering his arms. His dark brown hair flipped to one side. "Everyone we have a new student, listen up while he introduces him self." "I'm Sam Wilmington, I transferred here from Ohio." "You can take a seat by Sophia, Sophia raise your hand so he can make his way to his seat." I raised my hand and Sam walked to the table I was at. "Hey." Sam said trying to be friendly. "Hi." That sounded ruder then what I expected. "I guess I caught you at a bad time." Sam teased. "Yea, sorry." "It's fine." "Listen up everybody, we are going to start a project. In this project you will have to make a lightbulb turn on by using whatever you can find around your house. You may buy some supplies but I want most of the parts be from your house. Your partners will be the person sitting next to you. So Sophia you will have to fill in Sam about what we learned about this. Also this is a at home project, so you will have to get together with each other." Mr. Thompson said. "So when do you want to get together." Sam asked. "Are you free today?" I said. "Yea, your house or mine?" "Yours." I said quickly. "Okay, do you need a ride?"n"Yea." I sounded so pathetic. This is the only person who doesn't know what happened about my parents and I'm not planning on telling him. I don't want him to see me as a charity case.
