"Well here it is." Sam said as we stepped inside his house. His house was really nice, the walls were dark red with black furniture. "Were are your parents?" I asked. "Their not here." Sam said. "Where are they?" I asked. "The hospital, my mom is really sick and my dad is staying with her." I could hear Sam choke on his words when he spoke as if he was trying to hold back his own tears. "Oh my god I'm so sorry." I knew how it felt to have no parents. "It's okay. So what about that project." "Oh right, so basically we have to make a light bulb well light up." I pulled out the rubric to see what we have to do. "It says we need to have the light to stay on for a minute or we won't get full credit. Also we have to write about the process we went through to make this." "Does it say anything about how to actually make the light bulb light up?" Sam teased. "No, but we can just look it up." I said. "That's actually a good idea." Sam walked to his bedroom motioning for me to follow him. He took out his computer and looked up how to make a light bulb light up with house hold items. We watched an hour long video on how to build the proper body where the ligt bulb will go. The person giving directions went step by step on what to do, I almost fell asleep watching this. The man spoke in monotone making the video even more boring. "This should be interesting." Sam said as he shut the computer. "Do you have any ideas on how to build this thing?" I said. "I actually do, so first we have to but eight D-sized batteries and tape them together with the positive and negative sides touching each other. So that's the first thing we should focus on before we go on." Sam explained. "Okay, so where are we going to get eight D-sized batteries?" I asked. "An electronic store." "Do you know where one is at?" "Yea it's about ten minutes away from here, let's go get them now so we can get that out of the way." We got in the car and drove to a run down store. "Is this it?" I asked. "Yep." I got out of the car and went inside the sketchy looking building. "Hey, how may I help you?" An old man asked us. "Yes, do you have any D-sized batteries?" Sam asked. "Yea their in the back of the store next to the computer monitors." We headed to the back of the store stopping when we got to the battery section. The walk was covered in different types of batteries, I never knew how many batteries there are until now. "Here we go." Sam said grabbing two packs of four D-sized batteries. I opened the car door to Sam's truck. "Where do you live I'll take you there now." "Oh right I live at 5318 oak rode." I used Juliet's address because I have no where else to go. I can't just tell him I live three hours away from here. We pulled up in the drive way of Juliet's house. I grabbed my back pack out of the back seat and walked to the backyard knocking on the door. "Sophia?" Juliet's brother Jackson said opening the door. "Hey, I got dropped off here by Sam my lab partner we had to work on a project together. Is Juliet here?" I asked. "Yea she's in her room." I walked in the house going to Juliet's room. "Sophia what are you doing here?" Juliet said as I entered her room. "I got dropped off by Sam my lap partner we had to work on some project. Can you drive me to the bus stop so I can get home?" I asked. "Yea sure." Juliet grabbed her keys on her night stand. "So what's the project about?" Juliet asked as she backed out of the drive way. "We have to make a light bulb light up with house hold items." "Oh, sounds boring." "It is." I groaned. "Who is Sam?" Juliet asked. "Oh he's new here, he moved here over winter break and he got partnered up with me." "Oh cool, well we are here. Do you need any money to pay for the bus fair?" "No I have my own but thanks anyways."I said as I got out of the car. "No problem bye I'll see you tomorrow right?" "Maybe." I honestly didn't know if I want to go back, maybe I wasn't really ready to go back this early.
