I drove back to the lake house since there was no where else to go. The ride was brutal due to the silence. Death seemed to follow us where ever we go and there was no escape. We walked up the stoned pathway that lead to the front door of the house. "The room is down the hallway." I said pointing to a empty room. "I'll be -" "Stay." Sam said before I finished. "Please." Sam added on. "Okay." My heart pounded as we got into bed together. His warm body pressed up against me sending chills through out my body. I wonder if he felt the way I feel about him right now. My eyes grew heavy and I felt myself drift into a deep sleep. I woke up and my head was resting on Sam's chest. I listened to his heart beat and his steady breath. "You up?" Sam asked in a low voice. "Yeah, how long have you been awake?" I asked. "Never slept." "How come?" "My thoughts kept me up." "What were you thinking about?" I asked. "Everything, but mostly you." Sam said taking me by surprise. "What? Why?" I asked as I sat up. "Well for one you talk in your sleep." "Wait I do! What was I saying? Holy shit that is so embarrassing!" I was terrified of what I said, afraid that I would say something I never wanted anyone to know. "You kept apologizing." "What?" Why would I apologize, more importantly what would I apologize for? Then it hit me, I was blaming myself for everything again. I tried to ignore the fact that still felt that way but the more I ignored it the more it bothered me. "It's not your fault." Sam said rubbing my arm with his thumb. "I don't know, I know that but, I don't know it's complicated." I said as I played with the ends of my hair. "You know someone very wise once told me that what ever happens, there is nothing you can do about besides going with it no matter how much it hurts to accept it." Sam said. "Hm I wonder who that could be." "I don't know but whoever it was is really wise." "Must be." I said. "Fuck." I said realizing I didn't get back to Juliet. "What's wrong?" Sam asked. "I forgot to call Juliet." I said as I jumped out of bed and dialed her number. "Sophia! Where the fuck are you?" Juliet yelled through the phone. "I'm fine calm down, I'll explain everything later I promise. Meet me at Jack's Coffee Shop after school." I said. "Okay fine but you better show!" Juliet said before hanging up the phone. "I'm sorry but I have to go." I said turning to Sam who was already out of bed. "No problem, I'll drive you." Sam said as he grabbed the keys off the bed side table. "Thank you so much, for everything really it means a lot." I said. "Don't thank me besides you did the same for me." Sam said as we walked out of the house. The drive to the coffee shop was a good couple hours away and if I wanted to make it in time before I piss Juliet off anymore than I already have we needed to leave now.
