We sat on the grass next to each other facing the lake. No one spoke for several minutes, instead we just looked at the lakes beautiful scenery. I stared at how the tall grass framed the lake and how the sun glistened off the water. My phone buzzed breaking the silence between us. "Where are you! You aren't answering your phone you didn't come home last night and you didn't come to school! Where ever you are just get the fuck back here!" I read the text from Juliet. "Who is it?" Sam asked. "It's just my friend, she's wondering where I'm at." I said. I replied back saying I'm fine and that she doesn't need to worry. My phone started buzzing again because someone was calling me. "Hello?" I said into the phone. "Hi, is this Sophia Park?" A woman on the other line asked. "Yes, why?" I said. "I'm Georgia from Clover police department, I'm afraid there has been an accident involving your brother. How soon can you get here?" I couldn't make out any words, it's like the wind just got knocked out of me. "Who is it?" Sam asked worryingly. "I'll be there in a couple hours, I'm on my way now." I said before hanging up the phone. "We have to go." I said as stood up. "Why, what happened?" Sam asked as he searched for his keys. "I'll explain on the way we have to go to the Clover police department." Sam found the keys and quickly started the engine. "Sophia, what's going on?" Sam asked while he pulled out. "All I know is that my brother got into an accident, they didn't tell me much after that just that I need to get down there." I said. What could have happened to him, what did he do? The last time I saw him he looked like a wreck, didn't shower in days, always drinking, and never leaving the house. He was a complete and total wreck when I left what could have happened to him! Sam held my hand and drove with the other, I feel terrible for having him be part of all this he ready has enough to deal with the last thing he needs is to deal with me and my problems. "Sophia." Sam said. "Yea?" I mumbled. I stared at his reflection in the window instead of having to look at him. "I want you to know that what ever happens I'm here for you. I care about you, a lot actually and I want you to know that you're not alone." I looked up at him processing what he said. "I mean it." Sam took his eyes off the road to meet mine. "Thank you." I blinked back tears refusing to let them escape. "Thank you." I whispered again. "What?" Sam asked. "Thank you, I didn't have anyone these past few months. I mean my brother was there for me but only for a few days." Tears started to flood my eyes, Austin oh god what happened what did he do? We left each other in the worst way possible and if something bad happens to him I don't know what I'll do. "I'm not going anywhere, you're not alone anymore." Sam said as he held my hand.
