"So, I'm going to apologize for threatening to kill your brother." I murmured softly to Renegade as she stared out the passenger window of my car. Adison was focused on looking behind us, and Ren was playing with her bottom lip.

"Don't worry about it Dragon." She whispered back, the tip of her tongue dancing out to skate across her lip, leaving a streak of red behind.

"Are you bleeding?" I asked quietly.

"It's just my lip." She licked the inside of it, then swallowed.

I mentally cursed myself for my awareness of her, and her mouth.

"I'm going to apologize for getting blood all over your car..." Ren murmured softly, derailing my train of thought.

I shrugged. "Don't be. As long as it isn't yours I won't be upset."

She laughed softly, a soft exhalation of air and a soft smile, which were totally at odds with her current appearance. "We may have a problem with that, eventually."

I shot her a look.

She shrugged. "What? It's true. I'm surprisingly clumsy when I'm being a normal person."

"And how often are you a 'normal person'?"

She shrugged one shoulder. "I try once a day or so. I don't succeed very often, but I usually manage to end up bleeding- whether I succeed at normalcy or not."

I pursed my lips. "Are you always this much trouble?"

She shrugged again. "Unfortunately, sometimes I'm more. So, Lord Dragon, where are we going?"

"What did you call me?" I asked with some asperity.

"Lord Dragon. I think it sounds rather distinguished, don't you?"

I scowled at her. "I'd prefer that you didn't."

She tipped her head to the side in a flurry of blonde/brown hair, flashing earrings, and flecks of blood. "Why not?"

"I'm rather certain that if your brother heard you call me 'Lord,' he'd slit my throat."

"Bah." Renegade responded. "He'd be fine. I do it to him too. It's occasionally fun to be all elegant and formal."

I sighed.

"You're being weird again Ren." Adison stage whispered from the back seat.

"So?" Ren whispered back. "It sounds cool. And fitting. Back me up here."

"Uh uh." Adison shook her head. "He's your bond not mine. You can be defiant and obnoxious if you want but I'm not."

"You did earlier." Ren whispered back.

"We weren't in a confined space then." Adison responded.

"Ugh." Ren sighed. "So boring. No sense of adventure."

"So, you call Blade 'Lord' too? Does it annoy him?" I asked.

She half turned to look at me. "No. I'm his little sister. He's had plenty of time to accept that I'm insane."
She shrugged one shoulder. "Or he's just got a lot of practice at ignoring my annoying habits. That could be it."

I examined her carefully in the edge of my rear view mirror. She was much less verbally guarded than she had been when she was younger, but her eyes had a haunted look to them. She was emotionally guarded now.

"You never answered my question."
Ren murmured. "Where're we going?"

"To your compound."

She nodded. "Now," she shot me a guarded look. "How much do you know about my family?"
