Some pretty bad things!

"Them. Doctor Sarah and Josh."

I laughed out loud, ignoring the sharp pain that sliced my heart to shreds. "What do you mean?"

She dropped the papers on the bed. "It's an agreement. Sex agreement between them."

I bit my lip. "He... How? How?"

"Calm down, Karleen. I'm shocked too."

Of course, she's shocked. "I'm not shocked. Heartbroken is the right word."

She sniffed. "Ask him about it. It may not be what we think."

"Just leave me, please?"

I appreciated the fact that she left silently. I placed the papers on the bed, that same way they were. I bit my lip hard, till I tasted blood as the tears rushed down.

Because he's mine.

My phone beeped and I checked it. It was a message from Kath.

Kid sister: Are you fine?

I threw the phone on the floor and hit the bed with my balled fists. I couldn't take this in. Not after the night we just shared. Not after I told him everything. He's a criminal, how could I forget so soon?

I didn't hear the door open, I felt a cold hand on my bare shoulder and I shivered.

"What's wr--" He stopped and I heard him took the papers. He swore loudly.

"It's not what you think."

I didn't look up at him. "Did you have sex with her or not?"

He took a deep breath. "Look..."

I faced him. "Yes or no?!"

He pulled his hands through his hair. "Yes but--"

"Since when?"

"A long time."

My hand landed on his face to our surprise. "You!"

He held his left cheek and knelt beside me. "Karleen I can explain. Please."

"No. You can't. I gave you a chance to explain last night. How. Could. You. How? You..."

He reached for my shoulder but I inched away, sitting up. "Jenna was right. You're nothing but a beast like your father!"

I stood up and walked to the corner where our boxes were. I pulled my small brown box of few clothes.

"I'm sorry."

"I'm leaving. I'll look for the Dread myself and give myself in!"

He didn't stop me. I half expected him to drag me back, lock the door and beg me till forever but he didn't. His cold words broke my last straw.

"You were always this difficult, Karleen! Fine. Do it your way."

I opened the door and paused. "So much from a supposedly trustworthy boyfriend."

My tears and the darkness successfully blinded me. I didn't inform Kath about my departure, she'll probably wake up the next day and find out that I left. Josh will probably explain to her and... I don't know.

I walked to the main road and stopped to rest. I suddenly wished F was here. I missed F's presence and company.

But I was alone, physically and mentally.

I didn't walk for long before life threw it's next surprise at me.

"It's been long, runaway specimen."
