Upon reaching floor five hundred and fifty, the doors of the elevator opened. Martha and Jen now met a dark corridor, no lights except for the one at the end that illuminated the exit sign. There was a strange feeling in both women's gut but neither said anything. They moved slowly, arms locked together feeling along the walls with their hands and the path ahead with their feet.

The sound of a sliding door could be heard in the midst of the darkness getting closer as they proceeded forward. As they approached the door there was a very dim light barely illuminating a portion of the room. The door had been stuck in a constant closing sequence for a while. Jen's younger eyes noticed the half eaten remains, most likely human, of a left hand preventing the complete closing sequence from initiating.

Zwing!, was the robotic sound of lights being turned on as Jen flicked a switch on the wall as she entered. The haunting view of death was all around them. The carnage they assumed Authermus left behind was unheard of. Suspiciously enough there was no scent from the decomposing remains of the scientists murdered in cold blood even after so long.

Martha walked up to a glass wall at the end of the room, crossing any decomposing remains on the way. From there she could see other creatures put in a habitat most likely for monitoring purposes.

"They must be the successful specimens" Jen blurted out.

Martha was startled. She was so amazed by the sight that she forgot Jen was with her. Her heart raced but she was relieved that it was only Jen. The task was still at hand to initiate, locate the control panel and destroy the creatures in the incubators. Jen swiped a key card off one of the decomposing scientist just incase they needed it to enter into that room.

Back outside, the corridor was slightly more lit so they could traverse further. On their way, Jen had sworn she saw something move behind them. She stopped and looked back but there was nothing. Martha had already entered the other room when Jen turned back. This room was dark as well but when the lights were turned on only one lit. There in the corner another scientist hung himself.

"Looks like Authermus didn't like how he tried to kill himself!" said Jen.

The bloody remains of his intestines hung from a wide slash at the center of his stomach, slouching at the floor where a supposed pool of blood [now dried up] stood stagnant. Martha could only imagine the fright this particular person had experienced when Authermus went into a violent rage. Another window on the wall directly infront of them, but this time Jen walked up and looked through. Another habitat but slightly competitive, not so violent species could be seen.

Apparently all of these rooms were made to monitor the different habitats and produce whatever needs the species needed. Jen and Martha's guess was as good as any other. They left the room and Martha headed for the last door before the exit. Jen followed but when she stepped out, she noticed the shadowy figure that she glimpsed before. It went into one of the rooms, Jen followed silently.

Martha upon reaching the room turned on the lights. She had found the control panel but clueless as to how to operate. She began selective eliminating in her mind. She closed her eyes before pushing this red circular button but nothing happened. Upon further investigation she also noticed a key card was needed to initiate the process. She had to return to the first room with the decomposing scientists, but luckily the room was on the same floor. Looking around there was no Jen, the sudden loneliness hit and her goosebumps returned.

Cautious and scared Martha made her way out the room to the corridor. Upon arrival at the room the door failed to slide open. Suddenly Jen came darting towards Martha full sprint, nearly slipping on the smooth flooring, behind her was an escaped specimen also sprinting towards her. She spun around and darted back toward the room with the control panel. They made it safely inside but the creature passed the room and went straight through the exit before it vanished.

Gasping heavily for breath, the pair lay on the floor closely embracing each other. Frightfully, sarcastic laughter had suddenly been heard. It was Martha,

"i was so scared, when I saw you running I was startled but that thing beind you... I almost s**t myself, seriously!," she said, trying to maintain her breathing.

"I saw that thing coming towards me, I honestly thought I was done for. I can't believe we made it. I think I peed a little!," replied Jen laughing , also trying to catch her breath.

After a few moments, Jen got up pulling Martha to her feet. Jen noticed that Martha found the control panel but was curious how she hadn't destroyed anything yet. Martha explained that she had to get back to the first room to obtain a key card, before she could initiate any function on the panel. Jen remembered her little swipe as of earlier and pulled out a level one key card. Perfect! Any key card would have done but this one was even better. They crossed their fingers while Martha inserted the keycard in the slot. The panel lit up and on screen flashed the word 'booting'.

Just what they needed, another moment they had to wait. Martha grew angry and impatient as she wanted to have her vengeance on the laboratory for all they did and put her, and who knows how many others through. Then there was the matter of her so called husband. He disappeared to the first floor and hadn't been heard from since. Jen had enough time to look around the room, search for supplies and any other clues as to her existence and her parents. She found a peice of half shreaded paper bearing her name and another floor. From what she could make out, it read,

Subject: Jennifer
Floor: 100
Host: Authermus

What was this about? Host Authermus, what does this mean. She needed to keep this a secret until she could find out what she needed to know but she also needed to find a way to detour Martha long enough after her destructive wave, to help her. She hid the paper in her left pocket and walked back to Martha whose eyes were glued to the flashing screen on the panel.
