After Lionel told Thomas his name, they began to feel even closer. Their relationship was quite complicated, but Lionel made Thomas feel really safe.
They were sitting on the couch together; Thomas was staring at the screen of his phone, as well as Lionel.
Suddenly, Thomas's eyes widen as he opens a text message. "Lionel," Thomas said after six minutes of silence between them. Lionel looks up from his phone and meets Thomas's eyes. "Lance just texted me. He's apologizing and saying he wants to get back together."
Surprisingly, Thomas isn't glowing with joy like he usually would in this type of situation. Lionel looks down at his shiny yellow gloves, and tilts his head up to speak.
"You know what you have to do, right?" Lionel asks. Thomas grins at him and starts typing a message. Lionel scoots closer to him to see what he's typing. Once Thomas has finished, he reads the text out loud to Lionel.
"I don't need you." Thomas reads. He looks at Lionel, raising a brow. Lionel pushes the send button on his phone. It's nice for both of them that they can finally work as a team and not against each other.
After Lionel does this, they look away from the phone and looked at each other; Thomas's eyes slowly track down to Lionel's mouth.
Thomas didn't even know what he was thinking. Lionel grows more uncertain; he bites his bottom lip and looks down at his hands that were awfully close to Thomas's. Lionel chickened out because it reminded him of what he had done to him weeks ago, after his boyfriend's party.
During this turmoil of regret in Lionel's mind, Thomas takes both of Lionel's hands. "Lionel, are you okay?" He was hoping Thomas wouldn't ask him that.
"I'm sorry I kissed you." Lionel says. Thomas nonchalantly looks around the room, and then back at Lionel.
"I'm not." Thomas casually says. Lionel was surprised; he had no idea he felt that way. He wants to go in for another kiss, but he doesn't know if he wants him or his ex.
Thomas leans closer to Lionel, it's all so awkward but he doesn't care. Right when they thought nothing could stop them, they hear heavy, vociferous knocks at the door. Both Lionel and Thomas practically jumped out of their seat. They could hear a familiar voice shouting from outside.
"Thomas! Are you there, man? It's Joan!" Joan yells from outside the door.
"Oh no, oh god, Joan is here." Thomas says anxiously.
"They can't be here, Depression could come at any second!" Says Lionel.
"Okay, I'll get rid of them, they won't come in and they won't see you." Thomas says, walking backwards toward the door.
"What if they push past you?" Lionel asks.
"I'm way stronger than them, we'll be fine." Thomas walks to the door and opens it. Joan is wearing jeans and a black hoodie, their usual darker look. "Hi, Joan, this isn't really a good time."
"Dude, are you okay? I just didn't want things to end between us because we hadn't talked since our fight and what you said was really worrying me-" Joan stops talking when they see Thomas's bandaged hand with blood splotches on it.
"Thomas, what'd you do to your hand?" Joan asks delicately. Thomas notices that his hand is against the door, and moves it out of their sight.
"N-Nothing, it was an accident and I'm fine." Thomas says, obviously lying. Joan notices that Thomas seems to be shifting his eyes to something or someone in the apartment with him.
