Katsuki's head feels fuzzy, ears still buzzing, a million bees deciding his head is their new hive. His eyes heavy, he comes to with Kaede staring him down, her mouth moving but words not matching up. Whatever she's on about she doesn't look pleased, her hands on her hips, staring him down.
He gestures at his ears, still sluggish from sleep, quickly signing, 'buzzing," She stomps out of the room.
He should be used to this happening, it happens often enough. Struggling to his feet, he's still in his work clothes bag sitting next to the bed.
"Fuck."He rubs his eyes sighing heading to the kitchen for coffee.
He'll deal with that afterwards. The coffee maker still has yesterday's coffee in it. The buzzing doesn't stop but it becomes a background thought when he starts going through the motions of making breakfast, and coffee.
Kaede coming into the room at one point, somehow making toast angrily. It reminds him so much of his younger self he wants to run.
It wasn't even that long ago he was pissed off on the world, he still found himself pissed off now.
Muted now, but very much alive.
His phone a heavyweight in his pocket, nagging him to check the texts he knows are going to be there. whether they're texts from coworkers about covering a shift or the unknown number sitting in his recent.
Kaede leaves after making her toast, not sparing him a glance.
Rolling his eyes, he can already feel how the day'll pan out.
The coffee burns his throat. He eats in silence only the buzzing keeping him company. They leave the house late, him dropping Kaede for a sleepover on the way to work, having a rushed conversation with a dad he'd rather never repeat, he makes a mental note to not go to the door next time.
It's his first night alone in months. He works until midnight.
First the library it goes by slowly and much the same as the day previous. People asking where things are and him guessing with lip reading only.
By the fourth person, he's ready to just up and ignore them. Deal with his bosses disappointed words later. Not that he'd be able to hear them properly anyway.
End his shift its past dinner, his stomach empty, and uncomfortable.
He eats a granola bar he found in the bottom of his bag well driving.
He doesn't remember his phone until he's sitting in the parking lot of the coffee shop, having an hour to burn. There's a lot of texts from last night, more so early morning. A few from just a few minutes ago.
