It feels like he's just falling asleep when he feels his bedframe is hitting the wall with the weight of Kaede's jumping. A headache already pounding behind his eyes, he doesn't try to stop Kaede, he lets her get it out of her system before they have to be sitting in the car for a half hour then sat in a restaurant.

He distantly remembers talking to Unknown number till some hours in the morning having woken up yet again in a sweat. He doesn't remember falling back to sleep but he guesses it's some sort of miracle even if the resulting miracle is a headache and a buzzing in his ears, and his daughter jumping on his bed at who knows what time.

"Kaede what time is it?" His voice sounds far off and gruff. Coving his eyes with his arm, he feels Kaede's weight settle on the bed.

"7:45." she sounds all too happy for the time.

A welcome change.

He grumbles rolling on to his stomach he shoves his face in his pillow. He could've gotten a little more sleep, he almost laughs at that.

"Daddy, are you breathing?"

Rising his head from his pillow he takes a deep breath, "No." he shoves his face back in his pillow and breathes in, he should wash his pillowcases. Kaede pats his back, he grunts.

"I'll be right out, go get ready or something," he mumbles into his pillow, hears the sound of the door closing, it doesn't sound the same, too quiet.

He shuffles to his feet, almost tripping over his blanket in the haste to grab his phone.

His last sent text message being 4 AM.

There's a series of texts from Unknown number, he ignores them. Getting ready, shrugging on his work clothes for the library, aka a sweater without holes or stains from Kaede's baby years.

He opens his bedroom door, coming face to face with Kaede in a blue shirt and a skirt he doesn't remember getting her.

Hearing aids placed behind her ears on display from the uneven pigtails she has her hair up in.

"Want me to fix that for you?" he raises an eyebrow.

He doesn't really care how she does her hair, but he does care what his mother will think when they show up and he'll be blamed for not knowing how to do his child's hair. God, he doesn't miss that part of his mother.

She shrugs, "I like it."

"Alright sounds good." he messes her hair as he walks by heading to the kitchen. He hears her exclaim something behind him.

He looks in the fridge being met with milk and one lemon. He hits his head against the freezer.

He fucking forgot to go shopping.

Katsuki grabs the milk giving it an experimental sniff. Jerking back from the sourness of it.

Not that it matters, they're getting food when they get there. But still.

"Kaede are you ready!"

Kaede runs down the hallway like the devils after her. Tripping over her feet when she gets to the kitchen, she catches herself on the island.

"Watch it, jeez. We're not late,"

She now has a bow tied onto the higher of her two pigtails. She smiles cheekily at him.
