He's shaken awake by buzzing right next to his head, his pillow vibrating. His brain only cluing in that he fell asleep once again by his phone.

A phone call this time.

Katsuki doesn't think before he answers it. His brain still sleeping.

"What the fuck."

His eyes are still shut and he can't hear much on the other end before a choked up laugh meets his ears.

He jerks a little sitting up straight in bed, black stops appearing in his vision, dancing in and out.

"Why the fuck are you calling me at 4 AM."

Nobody calls him ever, let alone at 4 in the morning.
He'd just fallen asleep again too. Well, it felt like it anyway.

There's still a lack of sound on the other end. He'll only wait a few more seconds before hanging up.

He's just about to hang up when someone speaks up.

"Sorry, man." The voice is a mans, deeper than most people who call him, but it has this lightness about it.

He ignores the voice in the back of his head telling him to hang up this isn't right.

"I didn't think you'd answer. Did I wake you?" He sounds sad, which irks him.

"Who the hell is this?"

His patience is shorter, his patience is normally short, but this time it's shorter, Kaede didn't want to sleep, he's was running on four hours of sleep and two cups of coffee, and after work all he wanted to do was sleep.

Kaede passed out sometime between 10 and 11 in front of the TV.

"Don't you have caller ID?"

He glares at the wall. Dick.

"Its uh me?--goldfish -- Eijirou?"
His breath leaves him in one big whoosh. What. the. Fuck.

Learn to check your fucking calling ID.

His internal conflict is cut off by the sounds of more choked off laughter.

"I--I'll go, this was dumb. Oh god, I probably woke you up too, I'm so sorry. I wasn't thinking--clearly still not thinking as I haven't stopped rambling," His voice getting more panicked as he goes on, words getting harder to pick apart. "--ahh yeah I'm gonna go--"

"Why." He sounds all too harsh, but his brain has been a loop on exactly that, they both weren't in the right frame of mind at least he wasn't.

The other line is quiet, he almost thinks he did, in fact, hang up.

Softer, Katsuki, you can be softer. "Why did you call?" he doesn't sound like himself, he can hardly hear himself over the pounding in his ears, and the ringing not helping.

It's quiet again, he pulls the phone away from his ear, it's still in call. He switches ears, now he can hear heavy breathing.

"It's dumb," he says breathly finally.

He rolls his eyes, it better not be nothing.

Sitting up taller, he adjusts the phone, "it's 4 AM."

"3:45 actually."

"Almost 4 AM better?"

A yawn forces himself to pull away from the phone, confirming the time.

3:46

He'll have to be up in a few hours.

"--it's not important."

"What is it?" He snaps trying to not get angry.
