Everyone flooded out of the lecture hall in a flow of conversation, I stayed seated as I waited for a good moment to leave not wanting to be crushed to death by everyone else. As soon as the hall became less full I jumped up and excited the hall walking over to my locker and putting my stuff away for the day....I want Starbucks.
As I closed my locker there she was in all her glory, Katie, waiting for me scanning my face for any inch of emotion or hidden message behind my blank expression. She raised one eyebrow and smirked at me.
'Starbucks?' She questioned and I nodded in agreement with a small giggle, slambing my locker shut I felt a bump on the back as someone stumbled into me, I turned to face a boy I'd seen a few times.
He had blonde hair, brown eyes and lightest skin I've ever seen, he'd been hanging around us lately and i gotta say hes funny. He can cheer up even the saddest of people and his laugh so so contagious I've pulled stomach muscle's from the laughter we've all partook in since he's been around. He's great really annnddd he likes Katie but you didn't hear that from me.
'Hey guys, sorry didn't see you there Megan' he chuckled, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck and leaning up against some other lockers, nearly slipping and falling in the process.
'Its ok goofball, you probably broke my pencil though' I joked, picking up the pencil from the floor and throwing it into my bag. He starred at me as if I was serious until I pulled a face signaling to him that I was joking and he loosened up.
We walked to Starbucks which luckily was only down the road from campus laughing and joking about anything and everything until Blake brought up the topic of the day....Noah.
'He's dreamy' he slurring pretending to fall over and nearly tripping up and old woman in the process.
'You about to turn gay on us B?' Katie joked and he blushed, I hung my head low and pretended I knew nothing about his burning crush on Katie.
'N-no' he stammered 'I just think he's an attractive man. That OK with you?' He cocked pretending to be cross with her accusation of his gayness. We all laughed and entered the coffee shop, the warmth instantly hitting us and my stomach woke up at the nostalgia on the smell. We ordered our drinks and found some seats by the window.
'So' Blake began, sipping his hot chocolate and leaning back in his chair 'this party on Friday sounds like its gonna be litttttt' he squealed.
'I dunno if im gonna go you know' Katie sighed and I jolted forward in my seat nearly spitting out my coffee.
'You have to go!' I almost shouted, drawing attention from a few of the other people sat in the coffee shop.
'I need to catch up on some work and I kind of want to go see my family' she sighed, I saw a saddened tone spread across her face. I raised an eyebrow at her she mouthed 'I'll tell you later'. I wondered what it was that was bothering her.
The rest of the day past and I was cooking dinner in the shared kitchen when Katie wondered in, a single tear falling down her cheek. I quickly turned the hob off and gave her a cuddle, stroking her hair as the tears kept falling.
'M-my n-nan died' she stammered. I didn't know what I was supposed to do except hug her and try and love the pain away.
Katie left for home later in the week and the appartment wasn't the same without her, it was quiet and empty but tonight was the party and I still wanted to go and try and have a good time.
