Chapter 2: Memoir

Mabilis lang yung check in process ko. I'm 18 and this is not my first solo flight so hindi na ako gaano kinakabahan at umiiyak kagaya noong una.

Flashback
"Alexander..." mahinang hikbi ko. Nakaupo ako sa waiting area sa airport and Alexander, my dear Alexander, broke up with me yesterday. The day before I was going to Paris.

"I can't do this anymore, Leona. Akala ko kaya ko yung distansya, hindi pala." That's all he said to me. Bakit, Alex? Saan ako nagkulang?

Hindi ko namalayan na humagulhol na pala ako. Wala akong pakealam kung pagtinginan ako ng mga tao dito. I don't want to go to Paris, but I need to.

"Miss?" May tumawag sakin. Bumangon ako mula sa mga kamay kong pinupunas yung mata ko. Sinalubong ako ng lalaking halos naka upo sa sahig para lang makita yung mukha ko.

"Leona..." nagulat ako at alam niya pangalan ko. "That's a really pretty name. Oh, I saw it on your luggage." Dagdag niya nang mukha akong na creepy-han.

"I'm Ellijah. Elli for short." Binigay niya yung kamay niya at tinanggap ko naman. Ngayong luminaw na yung paningin ko, he looks young. Maybe just around my age. And he looks almost like Alex. This caused me to shed a tear or two.

"Uy, uy! Eto oh," He handed me his handkerchief. "Don't cry. May kasama ka ba?" Umiling ako. "Wala." I managed to say.

"Hm, ako din eh. I'm off to Russia to study for my family's business. Hindi ko gusto pumunta pero walang choice eh. How about you?" He asked me. Umupo na siya ngayon sa tabi ko. "Ay, pwede naman ako tumabi sayo diba?" I nodded.

"Sa Paris ako. Divorced parents ko and I need to spend at least two years with my dad before I turn 18. 16 na ako." Sabi ko.

"Talaga? I'm 17!" Sabi niya with a huge smile on his face that reminded me of the ones Alex made.

Kung ano ano lang pinagusapan namin. He told me jokes and stories na nagpatawa sakin. Medyo napagaan din niya nararamdaman ko.

"Flight 154 bound for Paris, France now boarding." Rinig naming sabi ng intercom. "That's my flight." Sabi ko.

"Wait! How do I meet you again?" Tanong niya.

"Well since your going to Russia and I'm going to France I don't suppose we can call or text. I guess fate nalang pagasa natin, Elli." He smiled but the smile was also sad.

"Have a safe trip, Leona!" Sigaw niya.

"Ikaw din, Ellijah!" Sigaw ko habang tumatakbo.

I will never forget Ellijah and how he cheered me up.

End of Flashback

Naalala ko si Ellijah. Nasaan na kaya siya ngayon? Natapos na kaya niya yung pagaaral niya para sa business nila?

"Flight 793 bound for Manila is now boarding." I'm one step closer.

I boarded the plane and luckily window seat yung nakuha ko. I like the sky. Nakakakalma yung mga ulap lalo na pag gabi. I love the moon.

Hindi pa nakaka take off yung eroplano, nakatulog na ako.

I dreamt about my friends, my mom, all the delicacies and dishes I miss, the places, the people, and Alex.

Please stop thinking about Alex.
