Aliza's door suddenly opened with a loud bang. A scream almost left her lips. Before her stood her mother. She looked furious. Aliza was so scared. She knew what was coming. "No, please no," she whispered so quiet her mother didn't hear her. Then all of a sudden the phone rang. Mom left the room quickly to answer it. My window is close to the ground so I grabbed my backpack with my stuff in it and some clothes. I ran to the window, opened it, then climbed out. I didn't know where I was going I just ran. It was dark almost 9:00 p.m. As I was running down the sidewalk away from my house I saw someone wave at me from the front porch of the house four or five blocks away from mine. He yelled my name. "Aliza?" said the boy, "is that you?" it was Nate. "Hey!" I said out of breath. "Why are you running down the sidewalk in the middle of the night?" Nate asked. My face was wet. I must have been crying. "I don't want to talk about it." I said my voice catching at the end. He just looked at me. Then he stood up with open arms. "Come here." he said his voice calm. I ran to Nate and fell into his arms crying into his chest. "It's okay I'm here. Your with me now your safe." Nate said as he kissed the top of my head. We must have stood there for about ten minutes. Nate backed up slowly looking into my eyes. "Do you want to stay with me tonight? " he asked. "Yes." I said quietly. "Follow me." he said after he softly kissed my forehead. We entered his house. It wasn't big but it wasn't small. Just right. "Won't we wake your mom up?" I whispered. "No," he said "she's on a business trip she won't be back till next month." "Oh " I said. We went up the stairs to his room. It was small but cozy. I felt his fingers lock with mine and I looked down to see our hands together. I smiled faintly. "Aliza?" said Nate softly. "Yes?" I said. "I have something to confess to you." he said shyly. "I- I'm in love with you." he said quickly and also blushing. I just stood there. Someone loves me! I thought. "I'm in love with you to." I said then I began to cry again. Nate pulled me in close hugging me tight. "Will you go out with me Aliza?" asked Nate. "Yes." I said through the tears. Even though it was dark I could see him smile then his lips were on mine. I couldn't believe it. Someone loves me. "Are you tired?" Nate asked. I didn't reply and Nate just watched me. "I'm scared." I whispered. "Of me?" he asked "No." I whispered. "Of my mom, my dad, of everyone that hurts me." He looked at me for a few minutes then he said "Aliza I'm not gonna hurt you. I won't forget you or leave you. I'll protect you. I'm here. I love you." he hugged me tight and kissed the top of my head. I woke up with Nate beside me. I checked the clock it read 6:00 a.m. It was Tuesday so we had school. "Nate." I said. He slowly opened his eyes and looked at me then smiled. "Goodmorning." he said. Nate kissed my lips softly. "How do you feel this morning? " he asked. "Okay." I said. "I don't want to go home after school." "Why?" asked Nate. "Because of last night." I explained, "My mom came home from work angry and as usual she took it out on me, or almost she had to answer the phone so I ran away." " oh I'm so sorry Aliza why don't you come home with me then?" said Nate. "Really!? Okay." I said smiling. Thirty minutes later we were outside waiting for the bus. Nate was smiling as he reached for my hand. Then he laughed. "What's funny?" I asked confused. "I just never felt this way before that's all." he said. I couldn't help myself I smiled. We heard the bus coming and Nate whispered something in my ear. "I love you." he whispered then kissed my forehead. "I love you to" I said just as the bus pulled up.
