"Vee!" August stood up from the bottom of the staircase, running to hug Veronica.

"You looked like a little puppy sitting there waiting for me," she laughed. Ronnie hugged him tightly, wanting desperately to tell him everything that had happened with Finn, Sage, and the feelings that had engulfed her. August was her lifeline— he tethered her to the Earth, as she did for him. They were completely different but, in the end, they fit perfectly. They were overjoyed to be back together.

"How was Washington D.C.?" August said, pulling away from the embrace only for Ronnie to send him a sarcastic smirk.

"Wouldn't you like to know, weather boy?" She giggled at her own reference and August simply shook his head.

"I almost didn't believe that you were actually in Barcelona. You actually look brown now, and you smell like a beach," he said, his face smug as Veronica hit his shoulder playfully before shrugging.

"It was fun. It's a great city but the past two days have been a mess as you already sort-of know." August raised his eyebrows. "Sort-of?"

"It's a long story," she replied. She heard quiet footsteps coming down the stairs and turned around; standing on the steps was Emilia, who seemed to be on the lookout and was beckoning them over.

"Hurry! They could be coming any second!" She whispered loudly to both of them. August and Veronica nodded and began to make their way up the stairs. However, their sneaking was cut short by the loud sound of Ronnie's suitcase hitting each step.

"Veronica! We didn't even know you were home," James Wallace said, looking up at the three teenagers from the doorway into the kitchen. The trio slowly looked down at him and Emilia sighed loudly, knowing they had just been caught.

"Yup, just made it," Ronnie said, rubbing the arm that August had just pinched. Collateral for attracting James's attention when they could be talking about more pressing matters.

"My loves!" Cynthia Wallace peeked out from behind her husband, pushing past him and opening her arms out to her three kids. They trickled their way down the staircase and let Cynthia and James embrace them. Then, next thing they knew, the three were getting pulled into the kitchen and being signaled to sit down at the kitchen bar. They sat in their usual places as the couple began to make some coffee for Veronica.

"How was Spain? I know you must be tired," James said.

"Just a little," she said only to yawn, causing the man to laugh at her. Cynthia laid her head in her hand, staring curiously at Veronica. "Did you and Sage have fun?"
