Natsu had fallen asleep on the couch at 3 am. He had stayed up most of the night and early morning hours.
Gray couldn't sleep that night. He laid in bed staring at the ceiling, Erza and Lucy had really gotten to him about Natsu.
Natsu had nice and fluffy hair, he had pretty eyes. He was strong, he funny. He was brave and loving, one of the most accepting people he knew. Natsu was loud, but, he was slightly quieter at home. He was a messy eater, he didn't think that could ever change. Yea, he did some stupid stuff, but he didn't want to admit it but it was endearing. He was prone to fighting, but wasn't most of fairy tail?
Gray got annoyed at himself, he can't think like that. Gray didn't stand a chance.
Natsu was cute, couldn't he just admit that without being attracted to him?
So what if the mention of Natsu dating someone else made him jealous, that was normal right?
Gray sighed, He realized he didn't have an excuse for that, or wanting to kiss him, or wanting to hold on to him forever. Especially when he didn't feel that way towards anyone else.
Did he really have a crush on Natsu? He knew it was more than a crush, he wasn't sure if he could handle it. Unfortunately for Gray, he was in love.
Gray pulled a pillow over his face. He didn't want to ruin their friendship. He didn't want to wreck anything. Gray had to keep it a secret. Gray has kept secrets before, whats one more?
He wasn't sure if he could handle it. Gray turned over in bed and thought about other stuff. His hands shook. He felt a huge warmth in his chest. His mind kept drifting back to Natsu.
Gray sat up. His throat felt dry and hot. He needed some water. Gray made an ice cube and stuck it in his mouth.
It melted, He was still thirsty.
Gray sighed and looked at his bedside clock. It read 3:37 AM.
He quietly crept down the stairs.
He heard the TV on and looked over, Natsu was clocked out with the tv still on. Gray sighed, he got into the kitchen and grabbed a glass of water and drank it. He sat the glass down in the sink.
he turned the TV off and picked Natsu up princess style. Natsu, still asleep nuzzled Gray's arm. Gray mumbled something under his breath. Natsu was lighter than he expected.
Gray gently put Natsu down on his bed, before going back to his room, very red in the face. Gray finally fell asleep.
The morning that came, was nice. Birds were chirping and the sunlight was golden. Gray slept in later than he normally would, to around ten, eleven-ish.
He spent a long time in the shower. He really liked the hair stuff Natsu had bought for him.
When Gray got out of the shower. He went downstairs, dressed and dry, surprised to see Natsu there with a little kid sitting next to him.
"Hey Gray, this is Cece. She's the neighbor's kid, I babysit for them," Natsu told him.
Cece looked at gray, "Gray?"
Cece couldn't be more than 6 or 7. She had big brown eyes and brown hair, also a small yellow sundress on her made her look even more innocent.
Gray loved kids, he didn't mind Cece at all.
"Yea." Gray smiled at her.
Natsu looked at Gray to see his reaction.
Natsu sighed in relief.
"Uncle Natsu...Uncle Gray! Husbands!!"
Gray started sputtering utter nonsense and Natsu was blushing furiously correcting her that they weren't married.
"Not husbands?" Cece tilted her head, "Gray, your the one that Natsu says has pretty eyes and a nice smile! and-"
"I think he understands, Cece, but no we're not married." Natsu cut her off, "He doesn't need to know everything I said about him. Alright?"
Gray looked at them with raised eyebrows.
"Well, Uncle Natsu why don't you marry him if you're not married?" Cece suggested with confidence.
Gray and Natsu wouldn't look at each other.
"Hey, look! It's your favorite show! Mew Mew Kissy Cutie!" Natsu pointed at the anime that was on TV.
"Yay!!" Cece was distracted by that.
Natsu relaxed on the couch. Apparently, the ground was a very interesting thing as Natsu wouldn't look anywhere else.
Gray hid in the kitchen, it was his plan to clean the dishes, but he forgot that Natsu was really really clean. So he just kinda climbed understand the skink and sat there.
Cece left after about three hours.
Natsu went looking for Gray after he saw Cece off.
Natsu followed Gray's scent and opened the cupboards under the sink, not under the stairs.
"What'cha doing under here? Come on out, I ordered Chinese food." Natsu still avoided Gray's eyes, no matter how pretty they were.
"I um, like the scenery," Gray mentally slapped himself for such a bad lie.
Natsu rolled his eyes and pulled him out.
"So I have pretty eyes and a nice smile?" Gray teased.
"Don't know what you're talking about." Natsu placed a piece of tape on Gray's mouth that had the words 'shut up' on it.
Gray took it off, "That was lovely, you kinky bitch."
"Says the one who loses his clothes." Natsu huffed and crossed his arms.
The doorbell rang, Natsu hurried to it before Gray could reply, he came back with bags of Chinese food.
"Food." Natsu grinned.
Gray was happy for a change of subject.
Wait where has Happy been???
"Wait, where did Happy go?" Gray asked.
"Most likely with Carla or in one of the secret rooms that he hangs out in most of the time," Natsu was scooping out large portions of pork fried rice.
"Oh." Gray took away the pork fried rice from Natsu so he could actually have some of it.
"Yea, It's weird to me too," Natsu pulled out some won-ton soup.
"Hey Natsu, random question, is there Ice dragons?" Gray asked eating already.
Natsu froze, "Yes, why?"
He said it carefully and wary like it was a dangerous subject.
"Curious, what are they like?" Gray made himself some ice tea.
"I haven't met one, considering they're frozen in the polar ice caps." Natsu sighed,
"Oh." Gray went back to eating.
"But I do stories and such." Natsu looked Gray in the eyes, "Do you wanna hear them?"
Gray nodded yes.
