ROMAN...
After my dad had left, I decided to get back to my work so I phoned Murphy asking him to come to my office.
"Mr. Jones," Murphy spoke peeping through the door. I invited him in and we got to planning and scheduling my meetings for the day. I had in total six meetings to attend by two pm. I looked at my Louis Monet Meteoris watch and noticed it was 9 am. I had twenty five minutes to my first meeting of the day which was with one of our company's stockholders. I had a proposal to present to them.
With no time to waste, I instructed Murphy to organize everything I needed for the meeting and headed to the conference room to set up my presentation equipment.
By the end of the day, I was dead on my feet after attending six meetings and reading tons of documents, declining all of them. What a waste of time, I thought to myself. All the time I had spent reading all those documents and non was worthy of my signature. Innovators should come up with a device that goes through documents and sorts them out before people spend hours reading them.
It was 6 pm by now and my first instinct was to give Olivia a call. Olivia was my girl friend for two years now.
We met during my time in New York where I had gone for a hospitality conference. She was the receptionist at the hotel where I was staying during my time there. My soul purpose for attending the conference was to meet and engage with other entrepreneurs and find investors for the company. I did acquire four investors to invest in our company by the end of the one week conference but I left with more than that, I met the love of my life.
I called it love at first sight.
The first day I saw her standing behind that enormous desk with her hair in a bun smiling brightly at me as I walked toward her, something within me felt she was special and in the start all I wanted was to get to know her and maybe build a friendship but it turned out the heavens had something extra planned out for us and after eight months of friendship we finally took an extra step and started a romantic relationship that for two years now was perfect, to me.
I had been thinking for quite a while and after seeking my sister's advice had decided to propose to her the following month. We were both twenty eight years of age and I felt we were both ready to start a family together. I was a C.E.O at my family's company and she had been promoted to hotel manager so finances were not an issue for the both of us.
All we needed was each other to make this work.
I had occasionally brought up the idea of marriage indirectly while holding conversations with her and she was down with the idea on the various occasions.
"Love," she spoke on the other end of the phone as soon as she received my call. Her voice was the most soothing sound to listen to at the end of the day. Just speaking to her was enough to make me relax after the long day I had.
We called each other each single day despite how busy we both were and took turns visiting each other over the weekends. This weekend was her turn to come over to visit me.
"How was your day? I hope it was better than mine," I replied, lain on the couch in my office.
"Yeah it was great. Our C.E.O selected me to represent the hotel at a conference in Vietnam this weekend," she replied screaming happily.
I was so happy for her more than words could express. She was the most hardworking woman I knew right after my mum and sister. She started off at that hotel as a receptionist and after a year was promoted to hotel manager. It was not everyday that a receptionist was promoted to manager within a year of working but my Olivia had made it possible.
"I am so proud of you bae and you deserve it because of your work hard,"
"Thanks love. I am so excited. I have a lot of planning to do now since am travelling in four days time," and she went silent before saying, "I am sad though,"
"Why? What is bothering you?" I asked concerned.
"I was supposed to come see you this weekend. Now I won't be able to see you," sadness clear in her beautiful voice.
Knowing that not seeing me this weekend had made her sad made me happy. Sadist I know.
"Immediately you are back, I have a surprise for you. I am taking you somewhere special to celebrate you," I assured her.
She immediately started laughing and I could feel her blushing.
"I can't wait to get back already," she responded much happier now than she was before.
'Olivia, the tourists are here' I heard someone speak on her end of the line.
"Love, I am still working over here and have some important guests to attend to. Been expecting them since yesterday and they are finally here. We shall continue this spicy conversation later in the evening,"
"Okay, get to work my boss lady," and I blew her a kiss through the cellphone.
"I love you Roman," and she hang up.
Those twenty minutes I had spent on the phone with the love of my life had relaxed me completely and all that was left was to get home, take a shower, eat and get enough sleep.
After organizing my office, I pulled my car keys out of my desk drawer, locked my office door and left the building to get to my car in the parking lot. I drove to my apartment, ordered room service immediately I arrived then took a shower.
I ate my dinner while catching up on the news on the television. 'Voters in the district of Columbia passed a measure in favor of petitioning congress to become a state in the union,' the head lines read.
I turned off the television after thirty minutes of headlines. I phoned room service to pick up the dishes and after the gentleman left, I headed straight to my room where I fell asleep immediately I climbed on my bed.
