ELEANOR...

My dad's fiftieth birthday turned out to be a disaster for Bethany. She spent all day locked up in her room the next day. She did not go to work and I hated seeing her this way.

I had to find a way to make this right. I just had to. Maybe I could talk to my dad. In any case I was the soon to be C.E.O of his company, it was time I got involved in the decision making. Whilst sitting at my desk in my office, a thought came over me and I acted upon it. I picked up my shoulder bag and walked out of my office before closing time.

I drove to Roman's company offices and requested the receptionist at the front desk to let him know that I wanted to talk to him. She made a phone call before asking me to take a seat in the waiting area. After like fifteen minutes, another lady came to let me know that Roman was ready to see me.

I followed her to his office. We took an elevator to the third floor of the building. It was my second time coming to this place, the first time was when Beth needed me to pick her up after work. I later learned that she had intentionally left her car home hoping she would ask Roman to drop her off but unfortunately he left earlier without her notice.

Finally I was in front of Roman's office. I knocked on the door and he told me to come in.

"Hey," I spoke immediately I walked in.

"Hey Elaeanor," he turned his attention from his computer to me.

I took a seat in the chair on the opposite side of his desk. I stayed quiet for a moment trying to gather my thoughts and what exactly what I wanted to say and how I wanted to say it. Now that I was here in front of him, the idea felt so ridiculous to even say out loud.

"It was a mistake for me to come here. I am so sorry," I laughed awkwardly as I stood up to leave.

He immediately stood up and walked in front of me.

"The fact that you left your work at three to come all the way to my office means its important. Take a seat and let's talk,"

I remained silent looking at his eyes that held mine before agreeing with him. I sat back down and took a deep breathe.

"I can have my secretary bring you a drink. Tequilla? Bourbon?" He spoke and I burst out laughing at his attempt at humor. Oh how I relieved I felt after laughing like that.

"I know what happened between you and Beth, Bethany I mean," I spoke and his mood changed.

"If that's what you're hear to talk about there is absolutely nothing to talk about. I am not firing her or anything. She can come back to work. I have absolutely nothing against her. Yes I am hurt but it's what it is,"

"I am so sorry that she kept that information from you but I want you to know Bethany treasures the friendship between you two and it hurts to me see how sad she is. I am not defending her or anything,"

"Then what are you here to do?"

"She came up with this idea that I think may work" I lied. "My dad is handing over the company to me so I will become the new CEO. If you and I got engaged,"

"Engaged like as a couple," he spoke in surprise before I could complete pitching my idea.

"Yes, as a couple. We'll become one, the loan can be waived since I'll be sharing it as your fiance,"

He remained silent thinking to himself before speaking.

"But if you'll be the new CEO, why don't you just waiver it without us getting engaged, "

"My dad will never accept that. I know how principled he is and he would never let me waiver millions of dollars just because I'm the CEO. He has been making several plans for the money he will get from your company. I dont think he is about to cancel those plans for anything,"
