REMEMBER ME.

OLIVIA.....

After the exhausting twenty hours on our flight, Mia and I finally landed in New York. Since it was last minute, I could not find a direct flight to Washington DC from Vietnam. My first thought on arrival in New York was to buy an air ticket to DC now.

"You can go home. I am continuing to DC," I told Mia as we walked out of the luggage pickup area.

"No, you are not,"

Was she talking to me or someone else. I looked behind me but the lady behind me was on phone yelling at the person who was supposed to pick her up. Apparently he or she forgot. Annoying as hell.

"Liv, you just spent twenty hours on a plane and you want to go to DC. Since you are going to check up on Roman, you need to be well rested and strong for him,"

She did make sense. My butt and back both hurt after all that sitting I had encountered. I needed to rest for a bit before I fell sick because of fatigue. I nodded after she spoke and agreed to rest and go see Roman the following day.

I headed first to the reception table to inquire about available flights to DC for the following morning. The gentleman informed me about one available for 8 a.m. so without hesitation I paid for it.

Mia and I then ordered separate Ubers as we lived quite a distance from each other. I lived in Manhattan while Mia lived in Brooklyn. Mia's Uber ride arrived much earlier than mine. We exchanged a hug and she left. I was left battling with my thoughts once again, all which involved Roman's well being. I was planning to phone Carter once I got home to ask how the love of my life was doing.

Standing here at the airport entrance waiting for my Uber ride felt like eternity. Where was this driver? The map on the app showed that the car kept roaming the area. I took matters in to my own hands and phoned the driver. Apparently on his end of the app as well it showed that I was roaming the area.

I got home late in the evening. The house was quiet and peaceful. My dog and cat were at my cousin's place while I was away. I put my phone first to charge so that once I was out of the shower I would call Carter. I then headed straight away to the bathroom and took a long shower. I just sat in the bath tab while cold water from the shower head ran all over my body. This was my happy place for some reason. This was the place where I gathered my thoughts.

I went back to the kitchen, made myself a cup of tea and sat at my tinny dinning table. I pulled my phone out of it's plug and turned it on. I waited for it to completely turn on before checking my recent calls to find Carter's number. I called him but he never picked up. I tried this twenty more times till either his cell phone battery died out or he turned off his phone.

I couldn't think of anyone else to call so I decided to get enough sleep before I travel to DC the next morning.

.

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP. The alarm by my bed side annoyingly sounded. I immediately turned it off. Do these alarm companies intentionally put these annoying sounds to irritate us so that we can leave our beds as soon as hear them? Well it worked seeing I left my bed immediately to brush my teeth and freshen up. I packed an extra bag of clothes and made myself a cup of coffee. While I sipped my coffee, I ordered an Uber to drop me off to the airport.

Unlike yesterday, the Uber I ordered arrived just in time so I was able to get to the airport in time, checked in in time and had extra thirty minutes to spare before boarding. With these extra minutes, I phoned Carter and this time he picked up.

"Hey Olivia, how are you?"

"Hey, am okay."

"I have just seen your missed calls today. Sorry. My battery died out yesterday,"
