ELEANOR...

Finally, the night had come to and end. Sitting in front of my dad lying to his face broke me and I couldn't help but cry. I was just glad all this had ended and I couldn't wait to go back to my apartment to take a long cold shower hoping the cold shower could rid my mind of its thoughts.

Bethany and I silently walked back to the house after watching Roman drive off. She had earlier said we had taken our acting skills to the next level and she was right. The words Roman spoke at the dining table almost had me believing him and wishing that someday when I fell in love with someone, he will be as poetic as Roman.

Once at the door of the house, I had voices coming from the living room. I stopped Bethany from going in before I could eavesdrop on  the conversation between my father and my stepmother hoping to hear my dad's honest thoughts about me and Roman together. I leaned against the door placing my ear on the hardwood in search for any sound.

"But I thought you would be happy that she finally found someone she wants to get married to," my stepmother spoke.

"Well I don't believe that he is the right person for her to get married to. Marriage is even too much, I bet you they wont last to get that far," my father responded.

I could not bare listening to him speak negatively of me. I pushed the door open with a loud thud, my anger level getting higher. Bethany rushed to try to hold me back but I pushed her away. My dad needed a piece of mind for once. I was tired of being daddy's little girl. He needed to know I was a woman and him thinking that he can make such decisions for me needed to end.

"Why are you so negative about my relationship dad? Actually you have never been supportive of any relationship I have been in," I huffed angrily.

"Eleanor, you have only been in a relationship once and I was glad it ended. Rider did not deserve you. Now you rush to get into a relationship with a man you barely know. This is a man who even barely knows himself. He doesn't remember his past and you think he can give you a future," he responded and gasps from Cissy and Bethany followed. My dad had gone too far this time.

"If Rider was not right for me then and Roman is not right for me now, who will be right for me dad?" I asked him, tears at the brim of my eyes.

"Maybe try to find a man whose name doesn't start with the letter R," he spoke laughing. To him this was funny but I was damn tired with the way my dad never supported any decisions I made. He always felt he was the one to make the decisions for me.

"Greg, stop," Cissy told her husband.

"So you find this funny dad," and I started crying.

"Okay Eleanor. Allow me be honest with you, as your father, I see no future between you and Roman,"

"Me and him are already planning an engagement party in a month. We're serious about this dad and you should find a way to live with it,"

He stood up from his seat and turned to me. I was afraid he would slap me but he just spoke.

"Oh no honey, that's not how relationships work, you dont just date for two months then decide to get enaged in the third month, nope but if you love him that much or you're trying to be the next Romeo and Juliet, I am willing to give you both a chance although one month wont cut it for me. I need to see that this relationship can stand the test of time so that even when I'm dead and long gone I'm in peace knowing I left you in good hands,"

"So what? You want us to date for a year before getting engaged. This is 2019 dad,"

"I give you two months tops. If you two are together by the end of two months, I will finance your engagement party even the wedding and you know me, I go all out when it comes to throwing parties,"
