In this case, the voice that was heard by Shadowking was the Voice of Darkness, the Voice of Nousaurong. Shadowking was meditating.
Shadowking's Meditation Chamber was a pitch black room, and the only source of light was Black Fire, a magical fire said to come from Asmeth itself. The Mark of Nousaurong burned above Shadowking's head.
"God-Emperor Nousaurong, hallowed by thy name, I ask that you lend me your strength, as I lend you mine! I ask that thou show me thy power of thy radiance, and convey your voice to me! Lend me thy voice, as I lend thou my ears! Let me reach out to you with my mind!", said Shadowking.
Shadowking opened his eyes. He was psychically teleported to a barren realm of darkness. The realm was dark, cloudy, and stormy. Black Fire was burning throughout. There were tons of demons being chained to the floor by chains of Black Fire. Standing right in front of Shadowking was a monstrous figure that stood taller than mountains, sitting on a throne of pure black obsidian. The figure was covered with black smoke, and he was as black as night. He had purple glowing eyes, and a mouth full of purple fire. He had large black horns. He had big black wings. He was an incarnation of evil.

Nousaurong
Thunder was surrounding this dark, monstrous figure. Shadowking bowed before this monstrous apparition.
"Oh father of darkness, my plan is unfolding just as I hoped! God-Emperor Nousaurong, how shall I proceed?", said Shadowking.
The evil incarnate spoke. He had a deep demonic voice.
"Debrief me on the battle, child," said the evil incarnate.
