I reluctantly step out into the dim light that I've seen shining through this doorway ever since I got here. She knows I'm here, there's no use in trying to hide anymore. Though, what I'm hiding from is a mystery to me.
That is, until I turn the corner.
To my horror, I find Serena tied up in a classic wooden chair, unconscious with a single streak of blood running down her forehead, with Andy and one other person, who I'm unable to see at the moment because of the shadow across their face, standing to her sides. My instinct is to run to Serena, untie her, and get out, but I know that this won't be so easy.
This is exactly what I was afraid of. I let something slip at school, and now my sister is on her death bed. Please, I don't need this to happen tonight. Andy, with her smug grin, finally starts talking, "What's the matter? Didn't think I was serious?"
"Th-that's not it at all..." I oppose.
"Oh really? Because my partner, here, tells me otherwise," She pauses as she turned to the unknown figure in the darkness, "Why don't you repeat what you told me, Adam?"
Adam, that name sounds so familiar, as if I've heard it somewhere in the near past, but can't put my finger on it. My confusion is answered as he steps out into the light, immediately jogging my memory. He's the one who can fly; he's also supposedly best friends with David, who breathes under water. He was hiding in plain sight, pretending to be so innocent. The perfect disguise.
"I went to your school and overheard you disclose some, uh, details to this girl... Sammy, is it?" The way he talks is so stand-offish and sarcastic, but he knows way too much about my personal life at the same time. I don't want to push things.
"I swear I didn't say anything about your plan. You have to believe me! Please don't hurt her..." I beg in the last sentence quietly, pleading with them to not do anything. I watch as Serena begins to squirm, and I begin to think she's gaining consciousness. But she just goes limp again, as if she's in a deep sleep.
Andy seems to ponder my statement, giving me a glimpse of hope, but it quickly gets beat down when her face grows cold again and replies, "I don't. We can't take any chances. This is the only way for you to learn your lesson."
She grabs a gun off of a table to her right and aims it at Serena. "No, wait! All I said was that Serena was in danger; I didn't mention anything about you or the group or your plan or anything like that! Sammy was really worried about me and so I gave her the smallest truth I could think of to get her to understand that I needed to deal with it alone! I swear, I only mentioned Serena."
Tears stream down my face as I beg for Serena's life, as I never thought I'd be in this situation. A gun to my sister's head; the gun being held by an insane authoritarian who hates regular humans. This escalated so quickly.
"I guess it was unfair of me to not let you tell anyone anything..." She sarcastically wavers, "But that was your problem, not mine. And you made the mistake. Now you pay the price."
I watch in horror as my life shatters. My mind's too tired to use my telekinesis to stop the bullet, as I haven't had more than 2 hours of sleep each night for the past three weeks. Before I have the chance to say anything else, there's a loud gunshot and ringing in my ears. I try, despite my weakness, to stop the bullet and contain it, but I know it's not enough.

Lucas's POV
Visiting my grandfather at the hospital definitely isn't the most riveting of field trips, but I'm happy to know he's okay. He had a minor heart attack a couple days ago, so he's still recovering here. As I sit in the waiting room, patiently awaiting my dad so we can leave, my mind wanders.
