Chapter 8 - Truth Uncovered

Crickets whistled at the trees through the night. The road was in complete and total silence as Rouji walked out of his house. He looks up at the sky and it was covered with dark clouds.

I need to find out what happened to Katsune.. but before that, I need to tend to her for now.

Droplet by droplet, light rain started to fall. He goes back inside and locks the door. Again, a new dawn approaches. The sun wakes up in a gentle manner when the clouds fade away. 

*Thud*

"Ouch!"

The sound of a body slamming on the cement floor. 

I can't believe I just fell off of my bed.. he thought as he opened his eyes.

The door opens and Katsune peeked in.

"Rouji-kun? Why are you on the floor?" she asks.

"Ah.. you're awake. I fell off my bed.." he sits up. "Ouch ouch.." he touches his back. "Oh.. right. Are you okay now?" he asks.

"Eh? What do you mean?" she wonders.

"You almost killed me last night." he said as he stood up.

"Huh?! What are you talking about?! I was asleep!!" she said while she was surprised.

"So you don't remember anything huh.." he scratches his head.

"Did you bump your head?" she says smirking.

"Ah, you know what? Let's go eat breakfast." he smiles.

"I knew you were just hungry." she smiles back.

Hmm.. she totally lost herself last night.. that's why she doesn't remember anything. And also, the real Katsune wouldn't do something like that.

The two gets out of the room and heads to the kitchen.

Riiiiing. Riiiiing.

Rumiha's phone rang inside her room and she quickly picks it up and answers.

"Hello?" 

"Rumi, it's me." 

"Ah.. Rouji. What's up?" 

"It's about Katsune. Something bad happened last night." 

"Huh? D-Don't tell me.. you..." 

"No! She lost herself last night." 

"Uh.. what do you mean exactly?"

"She ran away from the house last night and attacked me when I pursued her." 

"Why would she do that?!" she yells at the phone.

"Ah! Ease up. You're yelling at the phone again."

"S-Sorry. Get to the point!" 

"I told you, she lost control of herself. And what's more, the moon was blood red last night when it happened. I doubt it had a connection." 

"Hm.. you sure about that?"

"That's why I called you. I want you to do some research regarding last night's moon." 

"Ah.. okay." she sits on her bed. "Then, do you want me to visit there later?" 

"Yeah, sure. Just bring some sweets. Hehe."

"Geez you're such a kid. Okay then. Bye."

"Be careful later. Bye." 

*Beep*
