Chapter 10 - The Third Tail

A few hours ago.

"I wonder if Rouji will be alright.." Rumiha says.

"I have confidence in him Rumi-chan." Katsune replies.

Rumiha stood by the window as she looks outside. Katsune sat on the mat calmly. Only a few minutes has passed since Rouji left and Rumiha grew more and more worried.

"But, what if he gets into trouble?"

"It's okay. I'll sense it right away."

"Eh? Sense?" she looks back at Katsune.

"Hehe. I don't know why but I have a keen sense of hearing." she smiles.

"Oh. But, Rouji could be miles away from us. Is your your hearing that much sensitive?"

"Well it's not necessarily hearing words but instead, it's like sensing danger. And if I focus enough, I can sense something from a significant distance."

Rumiha walks toward Katsune and sat beside her. She lifts Katsune's hair that covered her ear.

"Ah, you also have human ears." she said as she looked at Katsune's ear.

"O-Of course. It's just much more sensitive."

"Geez, I'm jealous. If only I had that much ear sensitivity, I could hear what Ro-.." she stops.

"What was that Rumi-chan?" she asks.

"Ahaha. Nevermind it." she smiles.

"Say it. I know you want to eavesdrop on me and Rouji if you had sensitive hearing."

"I'm just so predictable." she covers her face.

The clock ticks by and an hour has passed. It was already 7:00.

"Katsune-san, food's ready." Rumiha calls out.

"Ah, I'll be there in a jiffy." Katsune replies as she was inside her room.

Katsune got out of her room and sees that the plates and food are already placed on the table. She heads there and sits down on one of the dining table's chairs.

"Rumi-chan, let's eat now."

"Geez. I'm the one who placed them. Of course I'll eat now." Rumiha sits in front of Katsune.

"Hey, Rumi-chan. I have a question."

"Yes, what is it?"

"Do you have feelings for Rouji?" she asks.

"W-What? T-That's so sudden!" Rumiha blushes.

"Well, I just had to ask." Katsune keeps eating.

Rumiha goes silent for a while and continues eating.

"I guess it's a yes." Katsune says.

"We've been best-friends since we were kids. It can't be helped." she replies. "What about you Katsune-san? Is there anyone that you like?" she asks.

"Hmm.. I'm not quite sure." Katsune stops eating for a while.

"Do you find.. Rouji.."

Rumiha was about to say something then Katsune suddenly stood up.

"W-What's wrong Katsune-san?" Rumiha asks nervously.

"Rouji. He's in trouble." she says.

"Eh? Then, we must go to him!" Rumiha stands up.

"No. I'll go alone. You stay and guard the house Rumi-chan. It's dangerous."

"But.. Rouji needs me! Don't tell me what to do!" she shouts.
