Waking up has never been a strong suit of mine, always been a 'five more minutes' kind of girl. Although that 'five minutes' usually means a couple hours, which is why I'm glad Percy is so persistent when he try's to wake me up.
"Madison," I heard him whisper softly, shaking me. I answered with a sleepy groan and whacked his face in an attempt to make him go away.
"Madison you're going to be late for breakfast," he spoke harshly and I groaned once again but this time threw the covers off me and, with the help of Percy, managed to get my still partly unconscious frame out of bed. He exited my room as I grabbed my clothes for the day and slipped them on. I used a quick charm to make my bed and fix my hair before pulling on my shoes and joining Percy. I wore a simple plain white short sleeved top with a pair of simple blue skinny jeans. He was also in his normal clothes, as classes had been cancelled for the sake of the first task. Not that I was complaining. Me and Percy walked through the doors and walked towards Fred and George, sitting opposite them. I grabbed some potato waffles and stuffed my mouth.
"How was your-,"
"Date with Charlie?" George asked, finishing off for his twin. The unexpected question made me choke on my delicious breakfast and also made Percy look towards me with widened eyes.
"It wasn't a date!" I interjected, a thin coat of blush coating my cheeks and nose. I silently thanked my body for not stuttering and Fred and George just stared at me with a, 'mhmm, sure' look.
"You went on a date with Charlie?" Percy questioned, only snapping out of his shock.
"No!" I exclaimed which made the Golden Trio, well, Golden duo at the moment, turn to me, Harry looking horrid. Hermione had been complaining about Rita Skeeter who had wrote a nasty article about Harry, I had read it and was ready to give her a piece of my mind if I ever had the pleasure of meeting her.
"Are you alright Harry?" I asked, concern lacing my voice as I reached out and held Harry's hand in my own, reaching past Percy who sat between Harry and I.
"Yeah, I want to hear more of this date,"
"It was not a date!" Everyone left it at that and after breakfast we all did our own thing until lunch. I spent my time in the library finishing off a DADA essay. After lunch we went to the stands of the arena in which the first task would take place, anxiety spread throughout my body and my knee bounced nervously as I waited for it to begin. The twins sat on either side of me while Hermione and Ron sat a few seats over, the dragon trainers were placing the Swedish short-snout in the arena and as explained by Dumbledore, the mood objective was to get the Golden egg which each dragon was protecting.
After Cedric and Fleur had gone it was Viktor's turn, Cedric and Fleur had done quite well and had completed the task with little burns although Fleur almost got the blue bottoms burnt off her by the Welsh Green she had been facing off with. Viktor had the Chinese fireball, more specifically the one I had, had the pleasure of meeting and petting. I smiled at the dragon as it sat obediently waiting for the champion to enter the rock filled area.
Viktor entered the stadium, looking quite cocky and stone faced. Once sneaking up on the dragon he temporarily blinded it and I gasped in shock and worry for her as she thrashed and and clawed, accidentally stepping on two of the seven of her eggs. Tears welled up in my eyes as i heard her painful whimpers and look of distraught as she gained her sight back and mourned the loss of her eggs. Viktor had gotten the Golden egg and suddenly anger engulfed me.
"I'm gonna kill him," I seethed. With a scowl I stalked my way towards the tent where Krum, Cedric and Fleur sat along with Dumbledore Karkaroff and Madam Maxime, resting. I burst into the tent and before anyone could say anything, I stomped towards Krum, a scowl on my face.
"You destroyed her eggs! You hurt her! How dare you! I demand action be taken," I shouted, my voice strong. Everyone was in shock and I felt arms wrap around me, I thought it was Cedric but a familiar scent of clove and vanilla filled my nose. Charlie held me close and I leaned into his embrace as I sniffed, the whole situation making me emotional.
"You're right Miss Davies, points will be deducted from Mr Krum for the destruction of the eggs," Dumbledore spoke, his eyes soft and held sympathy as he looked at me. Charlie led me out of the tent and I glared at the still shocked Krum.
"Can I see her?" I asked weakly, my confident outburst dwindling and Charlie nodded, whispering a small 'of course'. He led me towards the exit and as we walked he didn't take the arm he had around my shoulder off. He just held me, it was soothing. When we reached her cage I heard her low whimpers as she curled around the remaining five eggs, keeping them warm. I parted from Charlie and walked closer, at the smell of my scent she looked up, in her eyes held sadness and grief and my eyes once again began to fill up with salty tears. I walked toward her and sat down at the bars. As she lay down and closed her eyes i petted her snout comfortingly, waiting for her to fall asleep.
'Krum is going to get it'
